In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.
Ayah 41

English Meaning

Rather, it is Him alone that you call upon, and if He wills, He removes the hardship for which you call upon Him, while you forget those whom you associate with Him.

Explanation

In moments of severe difficulty, people naturally turn to Allah because they recognize that ultimate help is in His hands. This exposes the weakness of relying upon false partners.

Ayah 42

English Meaning

We certainly sent messengers to nations before you, and We tested them with hardship and adversity so that they might humble themselves.

Explanation

Difficulties can become opportunities for people to return to Allah with humility and sincere repentance. Hardship is not always simply a punishment; it can also be a means of awakening the heart.

Ayah 43

English Meaning

Why did they not humble themselves when Our hardship came to them? Instead, their hearts became hardened, and Satan made their deeds appear attractive to them.

Explanation

The problem was not simply the hardship they experienced; it was their response to it. Instead of turning to Allah, they allowed their hearts to become harder and continued following what was wrong.

Ayah 44

English Meaning

When they forgot the reminder they had been given, We opened for them the doors of everything until, when they became delighted with what they had received, We seized them suddenly, and they were left in despair.

Explanation

Material prosperity is not always a sign of Allah's approval. When people persist in rejection despite repeated reminders, worldly abundance can become part of their test.

Ayah 45

English Meaning

So the people who persisted in wrongdoing were cut off completely. And all praise belongs to Allah, Lord of the worlds.

Explanation

The verse concludes this warning by showing that persistent wrongdoing has consequences. Allah's justice ultimately prevails.

Ayah 46

English Meaning

Say, “Consider: if Allah were to take away your hearing and sight and seal your hearts, what god besides Allah could restore them to you?” See how We present the signs in different ways, yet they still turn away.

Explanation

Hearing, sight, and understanding are blessings from Allah. The verse reminds people that no false deity possesses the power to grant or restore these blessings.

Ayah 47

English Meaning

Say, “Consider: if Allah's punishment were to come upon you suddenly or openly, would anyone be destroyed except the wrongdoing people?”

Explanation

The verse emphasizes that persistent wrongdoing has consequences. It also invites people to examine their own condition before accountability arrives.

Ayah 48

English Meaning

We send the messengers only as bearers of good news and warners. Whoever believes and reforms their actions will have no fear upon them, nor will they grieve.

Explanation

The mission of the messengers includes both hope and warning. Faith must be accompanied by righteous action and personal reform.

Ayah 49

English Meaning

As for those who reject Our signs, punishment will touch them because of their persistent disobedience.

Explanation

Rejection of Allah's signs combined with persistent disobedience carries serious consequences. The verse contrasts this with the safety promised to those who believe and reform.

Ayah 50

English Meaning

Say, “I do not claim that I possess Allah's treasures, nor do I know the unseen, nor do I claim to be an angel. I only follow what is revealed to me.” Say, “Can the blind and the one who sees be equal? Will you not reflect?”

Explanation

The Prophet ﷺ is instructed to clarify his human role and dependence upon revelation. The verse also teaches that spiritual insight is not equal to blindness.

Ayah 51

English Meaning

Warn with it those who fear being gathered before their Lord. They will have no protector or intercessor besides Him except by His permission, so that they may develop Taqwa.

Explanation

Awareness of standing before Allah should encourage people to develop Taqwa. The verse emphasizes that ultimate dependence belongs to Allah.

Ayah 52

English Meaning

Do not drive away those who call upon their Lord morning and evening, seeking His pleasure. You are not responsible for their account, nor are they responsible for yours. Driving them away would make you among the wrongdoers.

Explanation

This verse emphasizes the dignity of sincere believers regardless of their worldly status or social position. Faith and sincerity are more important than wealth or social prestige.

Ayah 53

English Meaning

In this way We test some people through others, so that they say, “Are these the ones among us whom Allah has favored?” Is Allah not best aware of those who are grateful?

Explanation

People may judge others according to wealth, social position, or appearance, but Allah knows the sincerity and gratitude of every person. Social status is not a measure of spiritual worth.

Ayah 54

English Meaning

When those who believe in Our signs come to you, say, “Peace be upon you.” Your Lord has prescribed mercy for Himself. Whoever among you does wrong out of ignorance, then repents afterward and reforms, surely He is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Explanation

This verse offers hope to those who sincerely repent. Allah's mercy remains open to a person who recognizes wrongdoing, turns back to Him, and genuinely reforms.

Ayah 55

English Meaning

In this way We explain the signs clearly, so that the path of the criminals becomes distinct.

Explanation

Allah explains His guidance clearly so that the path of righteousness can be distinguished from the path of wrongdoing.

Ayah 56

English Meaning

Say, “I have been forbidden from worshipping those you call upon besides Allah. I will not follow your desires; otherwise I would have gone astray and would not be among the guided.”

Explanation

The Prophet ﷺ is commanded not to compromise Tawheed in response to people's desires. True guidance requires remaining firm upon Allah's commands.

Ayah 57

English Meaning

Say, “I stand upon clear proof from my Lord, but you have rejected it. I do not possess what you demand to be hastened. Judgment belongs only to Allah. He declares the truth, and He is the best of those who decide.”

Explanation

The Prophet ﷺ does not control divine judgment or punishment. His responsibility is to convey the truth, while ultimate judgment belongs to Allah.

Ayah 58

English Meaning

Say, “If I possessed what you demand to be hastened, the matter between us would already have been settled. Allah knows best who the wrongdoers are.”

Explanation

The verse again clarifies that matters of divine punishment and final judgment belong to Allah. He knows the reality of every person's actions and intentions.

Ayah 59

English Meaning

With Him are the keys of the unseen; no one knows them except Him. He knows what is on land and in the sea. Not a leaf falls without His knowledge, nor a grain hidden in the darkness of the earth, nor anything fresh or dry, except that it is recorded in a clear Record.

Explanation

This powerful verse highlights the vastness and completeness of Allah's knowledge. Nothing in creation is hidden from Him, whether large or extremely small.

Ayah 60

English Meaning

He is the One Who takes your souls at night and knows what you do during the day. Then He brings you back to wakefulness so that your appointed term may be completed. Then to Him is your return, and He will inform you of what you used to do.

Explanation

The verse reminds us of Allah's control over sleep, waking, life, and eventual return to Him. Each day is another opportunity to complete our appointed life and prepare for accountability.
