وَأَخْذِهِمُ ٱلرِّبَوٰا۟ وَقَدْ نُهُوا۟ عَنْهُ وَأَكْلِهِمْ أَمْوَٰلَ ٱلنَّاسِ بِٱلْبَٰطِلِ ۚ وَأَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكَٰفِرِينَ مِنْهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا
English Meaning
And because they took interest despite being forbidden from it and consumed people’s wealth unjustly. And for those among them who rejected faith, We have prepared a painful punishment.
Urdu Meaning
اور اس وجہ سے کہ وہ سود لیتے تھے حالانکہ انہیں اس سے منع کیا گیا تھا، اور لوگوں کا مال ناحق کھاتے تھے۔ اور ان میں سے جو کافر ہوئے، ان کے لیے دردناک عذاب تیار کیا گیا ہے۔
Explanation
This verse mentions two serious forms of wrongdoing: dealing in prohibited interest and taking people’s wealth unjustly. It teaches that religious knowledge must be reflected in honest financial conduct.
لَّٰكِنِ ٱلرَّٰسِخُونَ فِى ٱلْعِلْمِ مِنْهُمْ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ مِن قَبْلِكَ ۚ وَٱلْمُقِيمِينَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ ۚ وَٱلْمُؤْتُونَ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْءَاخِرِ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ سَنُؤْتِيهِمْ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا
English Meaning
But those firmly grounded in knowledge among them, and the believers, believe in what has been revealed to you and what was revealed before you. They establish Prayer, give Zakah, and believe in Allah and the Last Day. Such people will receive a great reward.
Urdu Meaning
لیکن ان میں سے جو علم میں پختہ ہیں اور ایمان والے ہیں، وہ اس پر ایمان رکھتے ہیں جو آپ پر نازل کیا گیا اور جو آپ سے پہلے نازل کیا گیا۔ وہ نماز قائم کرتے، زکوٰۃ دیتے اور اللہ اور آخرت پر ایمان رکھتے ہیں۔ ایسے لوگوں کے لیے بڑا اجر ہے۔
Explanation
The verse distinguishes sincere believers from those who reject revelation. True faith includes belief in Allah’s revelations, Prayer, Zakah, and the Hereafter.
إِنَّآ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْكَ كَمَآ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ نُوحٍ وَٱلنَّبِيِّۦنَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ ۚ وَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَإِسْمَٰعِيلَ وَإِسْحَٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ وَٱلْأَسْبَاطِ وَعِيسَىٰ وَأَيُّوبَ وَيُونُسَ وَهَٰرُونَ وَسُلَيْمَٰنَ ۚ وَءَاتَيْنَا دَاوُۥدَ زَبُورًا
English Meaning
Indeed, We have revealed to you as We revealed to Noah and the prophets after him. We also revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob and the descendants, and to Jesus, Job, Jonah, Aaron and Solomon. And We gave David the Psalms.
Urdu Meaning
بے شک ہم نے آپ کی طرف اسی طرح وحی کی جیسے نوح اور ان کے بعد آنے والے نبیوں کی طرف وحی کی۔ اور ہم نے ابراہیم، اسماعیل، اسحاق، یعقوب اور ان کی اولاد، عیسیٰ، ایوب، یونس، ہارون اور سلیمان کی طرف بھی وحی کی، اور داؤد کو زبور عطا کی۔
Explanation
This verse emphasizes that revelation to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ belongs to the same divine tradition of revelation given to earlier prophets.
وَرُسُلًا قَدْ قَصَصْنَٰهُمْ عَلَيْكَ مِن قَبْلُ وَرُسُلًا لَّمْ نَقْصُصْهُمْ عَلَيْكَ ۚ وَكَلَّمَ ٱللَّهُ مُوسَىٰ تَكْلِيمًا
English Meaning
And We sent messengers whose stories We have already told you, and messengers whose stories We have not told you. And Allah spoke directly to Moses.
Urdu Meaning
اور ایسے رسول بھی ہیں جن کے واقعات ہم آپ کو پہلے بیان کر چکے ہیں، اور ایسے رسول بھی ہیں جن کے واقعات ہم نے آپ کو نہیں بتائے۔ اور اللہ نے موسیٰ سے براہِ راست کلام فرمایا۔
Explanation
Allah reminds us that not every prophet and messenger is mentioned in the Qur’an. The verse also highlights the special communication Allah granted to Musa عليه السلام.
رُّسُلًا مُّبَشِّرِينَ وَمُنذِرِينَ لِئَلَّا يَكُونَ لِلنَّاسِ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ حُجَّةٌۢ بَعْدَ ٱلرُّسُلِ ۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَزِيزًا حَكِيمًا
English Meaning
Messengers were sent as bringers of good news and warnings so that people would have no argument against Allah after the messengers had delivered His message. Allah is Mighty and Wise.
Urdu Meaning
رسول خوشخبری دینے والے اور ڈرانے والے بنا کر بھیجے گئے تاکہ رسولوں کے آنے کے بعد لوگوں کے پاس اللہ کے مقابلے میں کوئی حجت باقی نہ رہے۔ اور اللہ غالب اور حکمت والا ہے۔
Explanation
The mission of the messengers was to clearly communicate Allah’s guidance, give hope to those who obey, and warn those who reject the truth.
لَّٰكِنِ ٱللَّهُ يَشْهَدُ بِمَآ أَنزَلَ إِلَيْكَ ۖ أَنزَلَهُۥ بِعِلْمِهِۦ ۖ وَٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ يَشْهَدُونَ ۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ شَهِيدًا
English Meaning
But Allah bears witness to what He has revealed to you. He has sent it down with His knowledge, and the angels also bear witness. Allah alone is sufficient as a witness.
Urdu Meaning
لیکن اللہ خود گواہی دیتا ہے اس وحی کی جو آپ کی طرف نازل کی گئی ہے۔ اسے اللہ نے اپنے علم کے ساتھ نازل کیا ہے، اور فرشتے بھی گواہی دیتے ہیں۔ اور اللہ کا گواہ ہونا کافی ہے۔
Explanation
The revelation given to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is affirmed by Allah Himself, and the angels also bear witness to it.
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَصَدُّوا۟ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ قَدْ ضَلُّوا۟ ضَلَٰلًا بَعِيدًا
English Meaning
Indeed, those who reject faith and prevent people from the way of Allah have gone far astray.
Urdu Meaning
بے شک جن لوگوں نے کفر کیا اور اللہ کی راہ سے لوگوں کو روکا، وہ بہت دور کی گمراہی میں جا پڑے۔
Explanation
The verse warns against both personal rejection of faith and actively preventing others from following Allah’s guidance.
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَظَلَمُوا۟ لَمْ يَكُنِ ٱللَّهُ لِيَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ وَلَا لِيَهْدِيَهُمْ طَرِيقًا
English Meaning
Indeed, those who reject faith and persist in wrongdoing will not be forgiven, nor will they be guided to a path.
Urdu Meaning
بے شک جن لوگوں نے کفر کیا اور ظلم پر قائم رہے، اللہ انہیں بخشنے والا نہیں اور نہ انہیں کسی راہ کی ہدایت دے گا۔
Explanation
This warning concerns persistent rejection and wrongdoing without repentance. The Qur’an repeatedly calls people toward repentance and returning to Allah.
إِلَّا طَرِيقَ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًا ۚ وَكَانَ ذَٰلِكَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ يَسِيرًا
English Meaning
Except the path of Hell, where they will remain forever. And that is easy for Allah.
Urdu Meaning
مگر جہنم کے راستے کے، جس میں وہ ہمیشہ رہیں گے، اور یہ اللہ کے لیے آسان ہے۔
Explanation
The verse continues the warning about the ultimate consequence of persistent rejection and wrongdoing.
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ قَدْ جَآءَكُمُ ٱلرَّسُولُ بِٱلْحَقِّ مِن رَّبِّكُمْ فَـَٔامِنُوا۟ خَيْرًا لَّكُمْ ۚ وَإِن تَكْفُرُوا۟ فَإِنَّ لِلَّهِ مَا فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا
English Meaning
O humanity, the Messenger has come to you with the truth from your Lord, so believe; that is better for you. But if you reject, then Allah owns everything in the heavens and the earth. Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.
Urdu Meaning
اے لوگو! تمہارے پاس تمہارے رب کی طرف سے رسول حق لے کر آچکے ہیں، پس ایمان لے آؤ، یہی تمہارے لیے بہتر ہے۔ اور اگر تم کفر کرو تو آسمانوں اور زمین کی ہر چیز اللہ ہی کی ہے، اور اللہ سب کچھ جاننے والا، حکمت والا ہے۔
Explanation
Allah calls all people to accept the truth brought by His Messenger ﷺ. Human belief benefits the person, while Allah remains completely independent of His creation.
يَٰٓأَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ لَا تَغْلُوا۟ فِي دِينِكُمْ وَلَا تَقُولُوا۟ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ إِلَّا ٱلْحَقَّ ۚ إِنَّمَا ٱلْمَسِيحُ عِيسَى ٱبْنُ مَرْيَمَ رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ وَكَلِمَتُهُۥٓ أَلْقَىٰهَآ إِلَىٰ مَرْيَمَ وَرُوحٌ مِّنْهُ ۖ فَـَٔامِنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِۦ ۖ وَلَا تَقُولُوا۟ ثَلَٰثَةٌ ۚ ٱنتَهُوا۟ خَيْرًا لَّكُمْ ۚ إِنَّمَا ٱللَّهُ إِلَٰهٌ وَٰحِدٌ ۖ سُبْحَٰنَهُۥٓ أَن يَكُونَ لَهُۥ وَلَدٌ ۘ لَّهُۥ مَا فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِي ٱلْأَرْضِ ۗ وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ وَكِيلًا
English Meaning
O People of the Scripture, do not go beyond the proper limits in your religion or say about Allah except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, was Allah’s Messenger and His word conveyed to Mary, and a spirit from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers, and do not say “Three.” Allah is only One God. Exalted is He above having a son. To Him belongs everything in the heavens and earth, and Allah is sufficient as Guardian.
Urdu Meaning
اے اہلِ کتاب! اپنے دین میں حد سے نہ بڑھو اور اللہ کے بارے میں حق کے سوا کچھ نہ کہو۔ مسیح عیسیٰ ابنِ مریم اللہ کے رسول اور اس کا کلمہ ہیں جو مریم کی طرف پہنچایا گیا، اور اس کی طرف سے ایک روح ہیں۔ پس اللہ اور اس کے رسولوں پر ایمان لاؤ اور تین نہ کہو۔ اللہ ایک ہی معبود ہے، وہ اس سے پاک ہے کہ اس کی کوئی اولاد ہو۔ آسمانوں اور زمین کی ہر چیز اسی کی ہے۔
Explanation
This verse calls the People of the Scripture to avoid religious excess and affirms the Islamic understanding of the status of Isa عليه السلام: he is the Messenger of Allah and His servant, not divine.
لَّن يَسْتَنكِفَ ٱلْمَسِيحُ أَن يَكُونَ عَبْدًا لِّلَّهِ وَلَا ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ ۚ وَمَن يَسْتَنكِفْ عَنْ عِبَادَتِهِۦ وَيَسْتَكْبِرْ فَسَيَحْشُرُهُمْ إِلَيْهِ جَمِيعًا
English Meaning
The Messiah would never consider it beneath him to be a servant of Allah, nor would the angels who are near to Him. Whoever refuses Allah’s worship out of arrogance will be gathered before Him.
Urdu Meaning
مسیح اس بات سے ہرگز عار نہیں کرتے کہ وہ اللہ کے بندے ہوں، اور نہ مقرب فرشتے۔ اور جو شخص اللہ کی عبادت سے عار کرے اور تکبر کرے، اللہ ان سب کو اپنے پاس جمع کرے گا۔
Explanation
Isa عليه السلام and the honored angels are described as servants of Allah. True honor comes through sincere servitude to Allah, not through arrogance.
فَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ فَيُوَفِّيهِمْ أُجُورَهُمْ وَيَزِيدُهُم مِّن فَضْلِهِۦ ۖ وَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ٱسْتَنكَفُوا۟ وَٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ فَيُعَذِّبُهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا وَلَا يَجِدُونَ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَلِيًّا وَلَا نَصِيرًا
English Meaning
As for those who believe and do righteous deeds, Allah will give them their full rewards and increase them from His bounty. But those who refuse and act arrogantly will face a painful punishment and will find no protector or helper besides Allah.
Urdu Meaning
پس جو لوگ ایمان لائے اور نیک اعمال کیے، اللہ انہیں ان کے اجر پورے دے گا اور اپنے فضل سے مزید عطا کرے گا۔ اور جو لوگ عار اور تکبر کریں گے، اللہ انہیں دردناک عذاب دے گا اور وہ اللہ کے سوا نہ کوئی حامی پائیں گے نہ مددگار۔
Explanation
The verse contrasts humility and righteous faith with rejection and arrogance. Allah promises reward and additional bounty to sincere believers.
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ قَدْ جَآءَكُم بُرْهَٰنٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَأَنزَلْنَآ إِلَيْكُمْ نُورًا مُّبِينًا
English Meaning
O humanity, a clear proof has come to you from your Lord, and We have sent down to you a clear light.
Urdu Meaning
اے لوگو! تمہارے رب کی طرف سے تمہارے پاس ایک واضح دلیل آچکی ہے، اور ہم نے تمہاری طرف روشن نور نازل کیا ہے۔
Explanation
Allah announces the arrival of clear proof and divine light. The Qur’an provides guidance that illuminates the path of faith and righteous living.
فَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱعْتَصَمُوا۟ بِهِۦ فَسَيُدْخِلُهُمْ فِي رَحْمَةٍ مِّنْهُ وَفَضْلٍ وَيَهْدِيهِمْ إِلَيْهِ صِرَٰطًا مُّسْتَقِيمًا
English Meaning
As for those who believe in Allah and hold firmly to Him, He will admit them into His mercy and bounty and guide them to Himself along a straight path.
Urdu Meaning
پس جو لوگ اللہ پر ایمان لائے اور اسے مضبوطی سے تھامے رہے، اللہ انہیں اپنی رحمت اور فضل میں داخل کرے گا اور اپنی طرف سیدھے راستے کی ہدایت دے گا۔
Explanation
Faith requires holding firmly to Allah through belief, obedience, and reliance upon Him. Allah promises mercy, bounty, and guidance to those who remain attached to Him.
يَسْتَفْتُونَكَ ۖ قُلِ ٱللَّهُ يُفْتِيكُمْ فِي ٱلْكَلَٰلَةِ ۚ إِنِ ٱمْرُؤٌ هَلَكَ لَيْسَ لَهُۥ وَلَدٌ وَلَهُۥٓ أُخْتٌ فَلَهَا نِصْفُ مَا تَرَكَ ۚ وَهُوَ يَرِثُهَآ إِن لَّمْ يَكُن لَّهَا وَلَدٌ ۚ فَإِن كَانَتَا ٱثْنَتَيْنِ فَلَهُمَا ٱلثُّلُثَانِ مِمَّا تَرَكَ ۚ وَإِن كَانُوٓا۟ إِخْوَةً رِّجَالًا وَنِسَآءً فَلِلذَّكَرِ مِثْلُ حَظِّ ٱلْأُنثَيَيْنِ ۗ يُبَيِّنُ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمْ أَن تَضِلُّوا۟ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمٌ
English Meaning
They ask you for a ruling. Say: Allah gives you a ruling concerning a person who dies without descendants or ascendants as heirs. If a man dies without a child but leaves a sister, she receives half of what he leaves, and he inherits from her if she dies without a child. If there are two sisters, they receive two-thirds of what he leaves. If there are brothers and sisters, the male receives a share equal to that of two females. Allah makes His rulings clear to you so that you do not go astray. Allah knows all things.
Urdu Meaning
وہ آپ سے حکم پوچھتے ہیں۔ کہہ دیجیے کہ اللہ تمہیں کلالہ کے بارے میں حکم بتاتا ہے۔ اگر کوئی شخص فوت ہو جائے اور اس کی اولاد نہ ہو اور اس کی ایک بہن ہو تو اس کے لیے چھوڑے ہوئے مال کا نصف ہے، اور اگر بہن بے اولاد فوت ہو تو بھائی اس کا وارث ہوگا۔ اگر دو بہنیں ہوں تو ان کے لیے دو تہائی ہے، اور اگر بھائی اور بہنیں ہوں تو مرد کا حصہ دو عورتوں کے برابر ہوگا۔ اللہ تمہارے لیے احکام واضح کرتا ہے تاکہ تم گمراہ نہ ہو، اور اللہ ہر چیز کو جاننے والا ہے۔
Explanation
This final verse of Surah An-Nisa explains an important inheritance situation known as Kalalah. It establishes specific shares for siblings and reminds believers that Allah’s inheritance laws are based on perfect knowledge and wisdom.
