بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.
Ayah 101

وَكَيْفَ تَكْفُرُونَ وَأَنتُمْ تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْكُمْ ءَايَاتُ ٱللَّهِ وَفِيكُمْ رَسُولُهُۥ ۗ وَمَن يَعْتَصِم بِٱللَّهِ فَقَدْ هُدِىَ إِلَىٰ صِرَاطٍۢ مُّسْتَقِيمٍۢ

English Meaning

How could you turn away from faith while Allah’s verses are being recited to you and His Messenger is among you? Whoever holds firmly to Allah has been guided to a straight path.

Urdu Meaning

تم کیسے کفر کی طرف لوٹ سکتے ہو جبکہ تم پر اللہ کی آیات پڑھی جا رہی ہیں اور تمہارے درمیان اس کا رسول موجود ہے؟ اور جو اللہ کو مضبوطی سے تھام لے، وہ یقیناً سیدھے راستے کی طرف ہدایت پا چکا۔

Explanation

This Ayah reminds believers that guidance should not be abandoned when the revelation of Allah is available. Holding firmly to Allah means remaining attached to His guidance, trusting Him, and following the truth He has revealed. The Ayah presents firm attachment to Allah as a means of remaining upon the straight path.

Ayah 102

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ حَقَّ تُقَاتِهِۦ وَلَا تَمُوتُنَّ إِلَّا وَأَنتُم مُّسْلِمُونَ

English Meaning

O believers, be mindful of Allah as He deserves, and do not die except in a state of submission to Him.

Urdu Meaning

اے ایمان والو! اللہ سے ایسا تقویٰ اختیار کرو جیسا اس سے تقویٰ اختیار کرنے کا حق ہے، اور تمہیں موت نہ آئے مگر اس حال میں کہ تم اللہ کے فرمانبردار ہو۔

Explanation

The Ayah connects a believer’s life with steadfast submission to Allah. Taqwa is not merely fear; it includes awareness of Allah, obedience to Him, avoiding disobedience, and remaining conscious of accountability before Him. The believer is encouraged to preserve faith throughout life and remain submitted to Allah until death.

Ayah 103

English Meaning

Hold firmly together to the rope of Allah and do not become divided. Remember Allah’s blessing when you were enemies and He united your hearts, making you brothers by His favor. You were near the edge of a pit of Fire, and He saved you from it. This is how Allah makes His signs clear to you so that you may be guided.

Explanation

This is one of the Quran’s major teachings about Muslim unity. Allah reminds believers that true brotherhood is a divine blessing. The Ayah warns against division and directs believers toward holding firmly to Allah’s guidance collectively. Unity here is not based merely on worldly interests; it is based on faith and obedience to Allah.

Ayah 104

وَلْتَكُن مِّنكُمْ أُمَّةٌۭ يَدْعُونَ إِلَى ٱلْخَيْرِ وَيَأْمُرُونَ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ ٱلْمُنكَرِ ۚ وَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ

English Meaning

Let there be among you a community calling people toward good, encouraging what is right and discouraging what is wrong. Such people are successful.

Urdu Meaning

تم میں ایک جماعت ایسی ہونی چاہیے جو بھلائی کی طرف بلائے، نیکی کا حکم دے اور برائی سے روکے۔ اور یہی لوگ کامیاب ہونے والے ہیں۔

Explanation

A healthy believing community does not remain indifferent to good and evil. Muslims are encouraged to promote beneficial actions and discourage wrongdoing with wisdom and proper conduct. The Ayah connects this responsibility with true success.

Ayah 105

وَلَا تَكُونُوا۟ كَٱلَّذِينَ تَفَرَّقُوا۟ وَٱخْتَلَفُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا جَآءَهُمُ ٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتُ ۚ وَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌۭ

English Meaning

Do not become like those who divided and disagreed after clear evidence had come to them. For them is a great punishment.

Urdu Meaning

ان لوگوں کی طرح نہ بنو جو واضح دلائل آنے کے بعد بھی فرقوں میں بٹ گئے اور اختلاف کرنے لگے۔ ان کے لیے بڑا عذاب ہے۔

Explanation

The problem described here is not every difference of opinion. The warning concerns division and conflict after clear guidance has been established. The Ayah teaches believers to value revealed truth and avoid destructive divisions that damage the unity of the community.

Ayah 106

يَوْمَ تَبْيَضُّ وُجُوهٌۭ وَتَسْوَدُّ وُجُوهٌۭ ۚ فَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ٱسْوَدَّتْ وُجُوهُهُمْ أَكَفَرْتُم بَعْدَ إِيمَـٰنِكُمْ فَذُوقُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَكْفُرُونَ

English Meaning

On the Day when some faces will become bright and others darkened, those whose faces are darkened will be told: Did you reject faith after believing? Then taste the punishment because of your rejection.

Urdu Meaning

جس دن کچھ چہرے روشن ہوں گے اور کچھ چہرے سیاہ پڑ جائیں گے۔ جن کے چہرے سیاہ ہوں گے، ان سے کہا جائے گا: کیا تم ایمان لانے کے بعد کافر ہوگئے تھے؟ پس اپنے کفر کے سبب عذاب کا مزہ چکھو۔

Explanation

The Ayah describes a scene from the Day of Judgment. The contrast between bright and dark faces represents the differing outcomes of people according to their faith and deeds. It emphasizes the seriousness of turning away from faith after receiving guidance.

Ayah 107

وَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ٱبْيَضَّتْ وُجُوهُهُمْ فَفِى رَحْمَةِ ٱللَّهِ ۖ هُمْ فِيهَا خَـٰلِدُونَ

English Meaning

As for those whose faces are bright, they will be within the mercy of Allah, remaining there forever.

Urdu Meaning

اور جن لوگوں کے چہرے روشن ہوں گے وہ اللہ کی رحمت میں ہوں گے اور ہمیشہ اسی میں رہیں گے۔

Explanation

The previous Ayah described punishment; this Ayah presents the opposite outcome. Those who remain faithful receive Allah’s mercy. The lasting nature of this mercy points to the eternal reward prepared for the righteous in the Hereafter.

Ayah 108

تِلْكَ ءَايَـٰتُ ٱللَّهِ نَتْلُوهَا عَلَيْكَ بِٱلْحَقِّ ۗ وَمَا ٱللَّهُ يُرِيدُ ظُلْمًۭا لِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

English Meaning

These are the verses of Allah that We recite to you in truth. Allah does not intend any injustice for the worlds.

Urdu Meaning

یہ اللہ کی آیات ہیں جو ہم تمہیں حق کے ساتھ سنا رہے ہیں، اور اللہ جہانوں پر کسی ظلم کا ارادہ نہیں کرتا۔

Explanation

Allah’s judgment is completely just. The rewards and punishments mentioned in these verses are not arbitrary. Allah knows what people believe and do, and His decisions are free from injustice.

Ayah 109

وَلِلَّهِ مَا فِي ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِي ٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ وَإِلَى ٱللَّهِ تُرْجَعُ ٱلْأُمُورُ

English Meaning

To Allah belongs everything in the heavens and the earth, and all matters will ultimately return to Allah.

Urdu Meaning

اور جو کچھ آسمانوں اور زمین میں ہے سب اللہ ہی کا ہے، اور تمام معاملات اللہ ہی کی طرف لوٹائے جائیں گے۔

Explanation

This Ayah establishes Allah’s complete ownership and authority over creation. Human beings may make decisions in this world, but the final return and judgment belong to Allah. This belief encourages responsibility and humility.

Ayah 110

English Meaning

You are the best community brought forth for humanity because you believe in Allah, encourage what is right, and discourage what is wrong. If the People of the Scripture had believed, it would have been better for them. Among them are believers, while many are defiantly disobedient.

Urdu Meaning

تم بہترین امت ہو جو لوگوں کے لیے ظاہر کی گئی ہے؛ تم نیکی کا حکم دیتے ہو، برائی سے روکتے ہو اور اللہ پر ایمان رکھتے ہو۔ اگر اہل کتاب ایمان لے آتے تو ان کے لیے بہتر ہوتا۔ ان میں کچھ ایمان والے ہیں، لیکن ان میں سے بہت سے نافرمان ہیں۔

Explanation

The honor mentioned here is connected to responsibilities: faith in Allah, promoting good, and preventing wrong. It is not presented as an excuse for pride or superiority. The Ayah also makes an important distinction: it does not condemn every person among the People of the Scripture, but acknowledges that some are believers while many are disobedient.

Ayah 111

لَن يَضُرُّوكُمۡ إِلَّآ أَذٗىۖ وَإِن يُقَٰتِلُوكُمۡ يُوَلُّوكُمُ ٱلۡأَدۡبَارَ ثُمَّ لَا يُنصَرُونَ

English Meaning

They will not be able to harm you except with some annoyance. If they fight you, they will turn their backs and then will not be helped.

Urdu Meaning

وہ تمہیں صرف معمولی تکلیف کے سوا کوئی نقصان نہیں پہنچا سکیں گے۔ اور اگر وہ تم سے جنگ کریں گے تو پیٹھ پھیر کر بھاگ جائیں گے، پھر ان کی مدد نہیں کی جائے گی۔

Explanation

This verse gives reassurance to the believers that the hostility of their opponents cannot ultimately overcome them when they remain firm upon faith and obedience to Allah. It reminds believers not to be overwhelmed by the temporary harm or opposition they may face.

Ayah 112

English Meaning

Humiliation was placed upon them wherever they were found, except through a covenant with Allah or a covenant with people. They incurred Allah’s anger and were afflicted with poverty because they rejected Allah’s signs, killed prophets unjustly, disobeyed, and transgressed.

Explanation

This verse describes the consequences of persistent disobedience and rejection of Allah’s commands. It mentions rejection of revelation, unjust killing of prophets, disobedience, and transgression as causes of disgrace and hardship. The verse focuses on wrongdoing and its consequences, not on condemning every individual belonging to a particular community.

Ayah 113

۞لَيۡسُواْ سَوَآءٗۗ مِّنۡ أَهۡلِ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ أُمَّةٞ قَآئِمَةٞ يَتۡلُونَ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ ءَانَآءَ ٱلَّيۡلِ وَهُمۡ يَسۡجُدُونَ

English Meaning

They are not all alike. Among the People of the Scripture is an upright community that recites Allah’s verses during the night and prostrates in worship.

Urdu Meaning

وہ سب ایک جیسے نہیں ہیں۔ اہل کتاب میں ایک جماعت ایسی بھی ہے جو حق پر قائم ہے، رات کے اوقات میں اللہ کی آیات پڑھتی ہے اور سجدہ کرتی ہے۔

Explanation

English Meaning

They believe in Allah and the Last Day, encourage what is right, prevent what is wrong, and hasten toward good deeds. They are among the righteous.

Urdu Meaning

وہ اللہ اور یوم آخرت پر ایمان رکھتے ہیں، نیکی کا حکم دیتے ہیں، برائی سے روکتے ہیں اور نیکی کے کاموں میں جلدی کرتے ہیں۔ یہی لوگ صالحین میں سے ہیں۔

Explanation

This verse identifies several qualities of righteous people: faith in Allah, belief in the Hereafter, encouraging good, discouraging evil, and actively competing in good deeds. True righteousness is therefore reflected in both belief and positive action.

Ayah 115

وَمَا يَفۡعَلُواْ مِنۡ خَيۡرٖ فَلَن يُكۡفَرُوهُۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمُۢ بِٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ

English Meaning

Whatever good they do will never be denied to them, and Allah fully knows those who are mindful of Him.

Urdu Meaning

اور وہ جو بھی نیکی کریں گے اس کی ناقدری نہیں کی جائے گی، اور اللہ متقی لوگوں کو خوب جانتا ہے۔

Explanation

Allah does not overlook sincere good deeds. Every act of goodness is known to Him, and He knows those who are mindful of Him. This gives believers hope that their righteous actions are never wasted, even if people do not recognize them.

Ayah 116

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ لَن تُغۡنِيَ عَنۡهُمۡ أَمۡوَٰلُهُمۡ وَلَآ أَوۡلَٰدُهُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ شَيۡـٔٗاۖ وَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلنَّارِۖ هُمۡ فِيهَا خَٰلِدُونَ

English Meaning

Those who disbelieve will never be protected from Allah by their wealth or children. They are the people of the Fire and will remain there forever.

Urdu Meaning

بے شک جن لوگوں نے کفر کیا، ان کے مال اور اولاد انہیں اللہ کے مقابلے میں کچھ بھی فائدہ نہیں دے سکیں گے۔ یہی لوگ جہنم والے ہیں اور اس میں ہمیشہ رہیں گے۔

Explanation

Worldly wealth and family cannot protect a person from Allah’s judgment. This verse reminds us that material success is temporary, while faith and accountability in the Hereafter are far more important.

Ayah 117

English Meaning

What they spend in this worldly life is like a freezing wind that strikes the harvest of people who wronged themselves and destroys it. Allah did not wrong them; they wronged themselves.

Urdu Meaning

دنیا کی زندگی میں وہ جو کچھ خرچ کرتے ہیں اس کی مثال ایسی ہے جیسے ایک سخت ٹھنڈی ہوا کسی ایسی قوم کی کھیتی کو آ لگے جس نے اپنے اوپر ظلم کیا ہو اور اسے تباہ کردے۔ اللہ نے ان پر ظلم نہیں کیا بلکہ وہ خود اپنے اوپر ظلم کرتے ہیں۔

Explanation

The verse gives a powerful example of efforts that ultimately become fruitless because of disbelief and wrongdoing. A valuable harvest can be destroyed by a severe wind, just as worldly efforts can lose their ultimate benefit when they are not accompanied by faith and righteousness. Allah does not wrong anyone; people bring harm upon themselves through their own choices.

Ayah 118

English Meaning

O believers, do not take as close confidants those who would spare no effort to harm you. They wish you hardship; their hatred has already appeared from their mouths, and what they hide is even greater. We have made the signs clear to you if you understand.

Explanation

This verse teaches believers to be careful about whom they trust with their private affairs and sensitive matters. It is a warning about individuals who openly or secretly wish harm, rather than a blanket command to distrust every person outside the Muslim community.

Ayah 119

English Meaning

Here you are, loving them while they do not love you, and you believe in all the Scripture. When they meet you, they say, “We believe,” but when alone they bite their fingertips in rage. Say: Die in your rage. Surely Allah knows what is hidden in hearts.

Explanation

This verse describes people whose outward behavior does not match what they conceal in their hearts. The believers are reminded that Allah knows every hidden intention. A person should therefore remain sincere and not allow the hostility or hypocrisy of others to weaken their faith.

Ayah 120

English Meaning

If something good reaches you, it troubles them; and if hardship strikes you, they rejoice. But if you remain patient and mindful of Allah, their schemes will not harm you at all. Allah fully encompasses what they do.

Urdu Meaning

اگر تمہیں کوئی بھلائی پہنچے تو انہیں برا لگتا ہے، اور اگر تمہیں کوئی تکلیف پہنچے تو وہ اس سے خوش ہوتے ہیں۔ لیکن اگر تم صبر کرو اور تقویٰ اختیار کرو تو ان کی کوئی تدبیر تمہیں نقصان نہیں پہنچا سکے گی۔ بے شک اللہ ان کے اعمال کا احاطہ کیے ہوئے ہے۔

Explanation

This verse teaches believers to respond to hostility with patience and mindfulness of Allah. The schemes of those who wish harm cannot ultimately overcome a believer who remains steadfast, patient, and conscious of Allah. Allah is fully aware of everything they do.
