وَإِذْ غَدَوْتَ مِنْ أَهْلِكَ تُبَوِّئُ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ مَقَـٰعِدَ لِلْقِتَالِ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ
English Meaning
Remember when you left your home early in the morning to position the believers for battle. And Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.
Urdu Meaning
اور یاد کیجیے جب آپ صبح کے وقت اپنے گھر سے نکلے اور مسلمانوں کو جنگ کے مورچوں میں مقرر کر رہے تھے، اور اللہ سب کچھ سننے والا، جاننے والا ہے۔
Explanation
This verse begins the Quran's detailed discussion of the events surrounding the Battle of Uhud. The Prophet ﷺ organized the believers and positioned them for battle. The verse reminds us that Allah was fully aware of their circumstances, actions, intentions, and words. In difficult situations, believers should remember that Allah knows everything and that military strength alone does not determine the final outcome.
إِذْ هَمَّت طَّآئِفَتَانِ مِنكُمْ أَن تَفْشَلَا وَٱللَّهُ وَلِيُّهُمَا ۗ وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ
English Meaning
When two groups among you were close to losing courage, although Allah was their protecting ally. So let the believers place their trust in Allah.
Urdu Meaning
جب تم میں سے دو گروہ کمزوری دکھانے پر آمادہ ہوئے تھے، حالانکہ اللہ ان کا مددگار تھا، اور اہلِ ایمان کو اللہ ہی پر بھروسہ کرنا چاہیے۔
Explanation
Even before the battle fully unfolded, some believers experienced fear and hesitation. Allah reminds them that He was their protector and that believers must place their trust in Him. This teaches that feeling fear is not itself the end of faith; what matters is returning to Allah and relying upon Him.
وَلَقَدْ نَصَرَكُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِبَدْرٍۢ وَأَنتُمْ أَذِلَّةٌۭ ۖ فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ
English Meaning
Allah had already given you victory at Badr when you were few and weak. So be mindful of Allah, so that you may be grateful.
Urdu Meaning
اور اللہ نے بدر میں بھی تمہاری مدد کی تھی جبکہ تم کمزور تھے، پس اللہ سے ڈرو تاکہ تم شکر گزار بنو۔
Explanation
Allah reminds the believers of the Battle of Badr, where they were numerically and materially weaker but were granted victory. The lesson is that success comes from Allah, and previous blessings should produce gratitude and greater obedience rather than overconfidence.
إِذْ تَقُولُ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَلَن يَكْفِيَكُمْ أَن يُمِدَّكُمْ رَبُّكُم بِثَلَـٰثَةِ ءَالَـٰفٍۢ مِّنَ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ مُنزَلِينَ
English Meaning
Remember when you said to the believers, “Is it not enough for you that your Lord should support you with three thousand angels sent down?”
Urdu Meaning
جب آپ اہلِ ایمان سے کہہ رہے تھے: کیا تمہارے لیے یہ کافی نہیں کہ تمہارا رب تین ہزار فرشتے نازل کرکے تمہاری مدد کرے؟
Explanation
The verse describes divine reassurance given to the believers during a time of fear. The mention of angels demonstrates Allah's power and provides encouragement to the believers. The ultimate source of help, however, remains Allah Himself.
بَلَىٰٓ ۚ إِن تَصْبِرُوا۟ وَتَتَّقُوا۟ وَيَأْتُوكُم مِّن فَوْرِهِمْ هَـٰذَا يُمْدِدْكُمْ رَبُّكُم بِخَمْسَةِ ءَالَـٰفٍۢ مِّنَ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ مُسَوِّمِينَ
English Meaning
Yes. If you remain patient and mindful of Allah, and the enemy attacks you immediately, your Lord will reinforce you with five thousand angels marked for battle.
Urdu Meaning
کیوں نہیں! اگر تم صبر کرو اور تقویٰ اختیار کرو، اور دشمن اسی وقت تم پر حملہ کرے تو تمہارا رب پانچ ہزار نشان زدہ فرشتوں سے تمہاری مدد کرے گا۔
Explanation
This verse connects divine assistance with patience and taqwa. Believers are taught that they should not depend merely on numbers, weapons, or outward strength. Patience, obedience, and consciousness of Allah are essential qualities when facing severe trials.
وَمَا جَعَلَهُ ٱللَّهُ إِلَّا بُشْرَىٰ لَكُمْ وَلِتَطْمَئِنَّ قُلُوبُكُم بِهِۦ ۗ وَمَا ٱلنَّصْرُ إِلَّا مِنْ عِندِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْحَكِيمِ
English Meaning
Allah made this only as good news for you and as reassurance for your hearts. Victory comes only from Allah, the Almighty, the All-Wise.
Urdu Meaning
اور اللہ نے اس مدد کو تمہارے لیے صرف خوشخبری اور تمہارے دلوں کے اطمینان کا ذریعہ بنایا، ورنہ مدد تو صرف اللہ ہی کی طرف سے ہے، جو غالب اور حکمت والا ہے۔
Explanation
The central lesson is that the means of victory should never become more important in a believer's heart than the One who provides those means. Even when angels are mentioned as support, the Quran clearly states that victory comes from Allah.
لِيَقْطَعَ طَرَفًۭا مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ أَوْ يَكْبِتَهُمْ فَيَنقَلِبُوا۟ خَآئِبِينَ
English Meaning
So that He may defeat a portion of those who disbelieved or humble them, causing them to return disappointed.
Urdu Meaning
تاکہ وہ کافروں کے ایک حصے کو شکست دے یا انہیں ذلیل کرے، پھر وہ نامراد ہو کر واپس لوٹ جائیں۔
Explanation
Allah explains one purpose of the promised assistance: to weaken the opposing forces and frustrate their aggression. The verse emphasizes that the outcome of conflict ultimately occurs according to Allah's wisdom and decree.
لَيْسَ لَكَ مِنَ ٱلْأَمْرِ شَىْءٌ أَوْ يَتُوبَ عَلَيْهِمْ أَوْ يُعَذِّبَهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ ظَـٰلِمُونَ
English Meaning
You have no control over the matter: whether He turns to them in mercy or punishes them, for they are wrongdoers.
Urdu Meaning
اس معاملے میں آپ کے لیے کچھ اختیار نہیں؛ چاہے اللہ ان کی توبہ قبول کرے یا انہیں عذاب دے، کیونکہ وہ ظالم ہیں۔
Explanation
The Prophet ﷺ was the Messenger of Allah, but ultimate judgment belonged to Allah alone. This verse establishes an important principle: final judgment, forgiveness, and punishment are matters under Allah's authority.
وَلِلَّهِ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ يَغْفِرُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَيُعَذِّبُ مَن يَشَآءُ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ غَفُورٌۭ رَّحِيمٌۭ
English Meaning
To Allah belongs everything in the heavens and the earth. He forgives whom He wills and punishes whom He wills. And Allah is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.
Urdu Meaning
اور آسمانوں اور زمین میں جو کچھ ہے سب اللہ ہی کا ہے۔ وہ جسے چاہتا ہے بخش دیتا ہے اور جسے چاہتا ہے عذاب دیتا ہے، اور اللہ بہت بخشنے والا، نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔
Explanation
Allah's complete ownership establishes His complete authority over creation. At the same time, the verse closes with His forgiveness and mercy, reminding believers that divine judgment is accompanied by Allah's perfect wisdom and mercy.
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَأْكُلُوا۟ ٱلرِّبَوٰٓا۟ أَضْعَـٰفًۭا مُّضَـٰعَفَةًۭ ۖ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ
English Meaning
O believers, do not consume interest multiplied over and over. Be mindful of Allah so that you may succeed.
Urdu Meaning
اے ایمان والو! سود مت کھاؤ جو بڑھتا چلا جائے، اور اللہ سے ڈرو تاکہ تم فلاح پاؤ۔
Explanation
This verse prohibits the believers from consuming riba and connects financial conduct with taqwa. Wealth must not become a means of exploiting others. The command also shows that economic behavior is part of a believer's religious responsibility.
وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱلنَّارَ ٱلَّتِىٓ أُعِدَّتْ لِلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
English Meaning
And guard yourselves against the Fire prepared for those who reject the truth.
Urdu Meaning
اور اس آگ سے بچو جو کافروں کے لیے تیار کی گئی ہے۔
Explanation
The warning against riba is immediately connected with accountability in the Hereafter. Believers are therefore encouraged to take Allah's commands seriously rather than treating financial matters as separate from faith and accountability.
وَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱلرَّسُولَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ
English Meaning
Obey Allah and the Messenger so that you may receive mercy.۔
Urdu Meaning
اور اللہ اور رسول کی اطاعت کرو تاکہ تم پر رحم کیا جائے
Explanation
Obedience to Allah and His Messenger is presented as a path to divine mercy. Faith is therefore not merely a belief held in the heart; it also appears through obedience and conduct.
وَسَارِعُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ مَغْفِرَةٍۢ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَجَنَّةٍ عَرْضُهَا ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتُ وَٱلْأَرْضُ أُعِدَّتْ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ
English Meaning
Hasten toward forgiveness from your Lord and a Paradise as vast as the heavens and the earth, prepared for those mindful of Allah.
Urdu Meaning
اور اپنے رب کی مغفرت اور اس جنت کی طرف سبقت کرو جس کی وسعت آسمانوں اور زمین جیسی ہے، جو متقین کے لیے تیار کی گئی ہے۔
Explanation
Believers are encouraged not to delay repentance and righteous action. The verse creates a sense of urgency: forgiveness and Paradise should be actively sought through faith, repentance, obedience, and righteous living.
ٱلَّذِينَ يُنفِقُونَ فِى ٱلسَّرَّآءِ وَٱلضَّرَّآءِ وَٱلْكَـٰظِمِينَ ٱلْغَيْظَ وَٱلْعَافِينَ عَنِ ٱلنَّاسِ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
English Meaning
They spend in prosperity and hardship, restrain their anger, and pardon people. And Allah loves those who do good.
Urdu Meaning
وہ لوگ جو خوشحالی اور تنگی دونوں حالتوں میں خرچ کرتے ہیں، غصہ پی جاتے ہیں اور لوگوں کو معاف کرتے ہیں، اور اللہ نیکی کرنے والوں سے محبت کرتا ہے۔
Explanation
Allah describes several qualities of the people of taqwa: generosity in different circumstances, control over anger, and forgiveness. These qualities show that righteousness involves how a person treats others, especially when facing difficulty or provocation.
English Meaning
Those who, after committing an indecent act or wronging themselves, remember Allah and seek forgiveness for their sins—and who can forgive sins except Allah? They do not knowingly persist in what they have done.
Urdu Meaning
اور وہ لوگ کہ جب ان سے کوئی بے حیائی یا اپنے اوپر ظلم ہوجاتا ہے تو اللہ کو یاد کرتے ہیں، اپنے گناہوں کی بخشش مانگتے ہیں—اور اللہ کے سوا گناہ کون بخش سکتا ہے؟—اور جان بوجھ کر اپنے کیے پر اصرار نہیں کرتے۔
Explanation
This verse describes a healthy response to sin: remembering Allah, recognizing the wrongdoing, seeking forgiveness, and refusing to persist knowingly. Islam does not present believers as people who never make mistakes; rather, sincere believers return to Allah after mistakes.
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ جَزَآؤُهُم مَّغْفِرَةٌۭ مِّن رَّبِّهِمْ وَجَنَّـٰتٌۭ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا ۚ وَنِعْمَ أَجْرُ ٱلْعَـٰمِلِينَ

Urdu Meaning
ایسے لوگوں کا بدلہ ان کے رب کی طرف سے مغفرت اور ایسے باغات ہیں جن کے نیچے نہریں بہتی ہیں، وہ ان میں ہمیشہ رہیں گے، اور عمل کرنے والوں کا کیا ہی اچھا اجر ہے۔
Explanation
After describing repentance and turning away from persistent sin, Allah mentions forgiveness and Paradise as the reward. The verse highlights both divine forgiveness and the lasting reward prepared for those who strive to do good.
قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ سُنَنٌۭ فَسِيرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَٱنظُرُوا۟ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
English Meaning
Many examples have already passed before you. Travel through the land and observe what was the outcome of those who denied the truth.
Urdu Meaning
تم سے پہلے بھی بہت سے حالات گزر چکے ہیں، پس زمین میں چل پھر کر دیکھو کہ جھٹلانے والوں کا انجام کیا ہوا۔
Explanation
History contains lessons for those willing to reflect. The Quran directs people to observe the consequences of previous peoples rather than becoming trapped in pride or repeating their mistakes.
هَـٰذَا بَيَانٌۭ لِّلنَّاسِ وَهُدًۭى وَمَوْعِظَةٌۭ لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ
English Meaning
This is a clear explanation for humanity, and a guidance and reminder for those mindful of Allah.
Urdu Meaning
یہ لوگوں کے لیے واضح بیان، اور متقین کے لیے ہدایت اور نصیحت ہے۔
Explanation
The Quran is described as a clear explanation and guidance. Its lessons are not merely historical information; they are intended to guide people toward better faith, choices, and conduct.
وَلَا تَهِنُوا۟ وَلَا تَحْزَنُوا۟ وَأَنتُمُ ٱلْأَعْلَوْنَ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
English Meaning
Do not lose heart or grieve. You will have the upper hand if you are truly believers.
Urdu Meaning
اور نہ کمزور پڑو اور نہ غم کرو، اگر تم مؤمن ہو تو تم ہی سربلند رہو گے۔
Explanation
After the difficulties of Uhud, the believers are told not to surrender to weakness and despair. Genuine faith gives a believer the strength to recover from setbacks, learn from mistakes, and continue striving for what is right.
English Meaning
If you have suffered a wound, the opposing people have suffered a similar wound. We alternate these days of victory and defeat among people so that Allah may make evident those who truly believe and may take martyrs from among you. And Allah does not love the wrongdoers.
Urdu Meaning
اگر تمہیں کوئی زخم پہنچا ہے تو دوسرے لوگوں کو بھی ایسا ہی زخم پہنچ چکا ہے۔ اور یہ دن ہم لوگوں کے درمیان گردش کرتے رہتے ہیں تاکہ اللہ ایمان والوں کو ظاہر کرے اور تم میں سے شہداء منتخب کرے، اور اللہ ظالموں کو پسند نہیں کرتا۔
Explanation
This verse teaches that worldly circumstances do not remain permanently in one condition. Victory and difficulty alternate, and trials reveal the sincerity and steadfastness of believers. The suffering of Uhud was therefore not meaningless; it became a test through which faith, patience, sacrifice, and commitment were distinguished.
