بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.
Ayah 41

قَالَ رَبِّ اجْعَل لِّي آيَةً ۖ قَالَ آيَتُكَ أَلَّا تُكَلِّمَ النَّاسَ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ إِلَّا رَمْزًا ۗ وَاذْكُر رَّبَّكَ كَثِيرًا وَسَبِّحْ بِالْعَشِيِّ وَالْإِبْكَارِ

English Meaning

Zakariyya said, “My Lord, give me a sign.” Allah said, “Your sign is that you will not speak to people for three days except by gestures. Remember your Lord abundantly and glorify Him in the evening and morning.”

Urdu Meaning

زکریا نے عرض کیا: اے میرے رب! میرے لیے کوئی نشانی مقرر فرما۔ فرمایا: تمہاری نشانی یہ ہے کہ تم تین دن تک لوگوں سے اشارے کے سوا بات نہیں کر سکو گے، اور اپنے رب کو بہت یاد کرو اور صبح و شام اس کی تسبیح کرو۔

Explanation

After receiving the extraordinary news of Yahya, Zakariyya asked for a sign. Allah gave him a sign connected with his speech and directed him toward abundant remembrance and glorification. The verse emphasizes that when Allah's favor comes, the believer should respond with dhikr and gratitude.

Ayah 42

وَإِذْ قَالَتِ الْمَلَائِكَةُ يَا مَرْيَمُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ اصْطَفَاكِ وَطَهَّرَكِ وَاصْطَفَاكِ عَلَىٰ نِسَاءِ الْعَالَمِينَ

English Meaning

And when the angels said, “O Maryam, Allah has chosen you, purified you, and chosen you above the women of the worlds.”

Urdu Meaning

اور جب فرشتوں نے کہا: اے مریم! بے شک اللہ نے تمہیں چن لیا، تمہیں پاکیزہ بنایا اور تمہیں تمام جہان کی عورتوں پر منتخب فرمایا۔

Explanation

Maryam is presented as a woman specially chosen and purified by Allah. Her honor is connected to faith, purity, devotion, and Allah's selection. This verse begins a detailed account of Maryam's extraordinary place in the Quranic narrative.

Ayah 43

يَا مَرْيَمُ اقْنُتِي لِرَبِّكِ وَاسْجُدِي وَارْكَعِي مَعَ الرَّاكِعِينَ

English Meaning

O Maryam, remain devoted to your Lord, prostrate before Him, and bow with those who bow.

Urdu Meaning

اے مریم! اپنے رب کی فرمانبرداری میں ثابت قدم رہو، سجدہ کرو اور رکوع کرنے والوں کے ساتھ رکوع کرو۔

Explanation

Maryam's honor was accompanied by worship and obedience. The verse highlights humility before Allah and connects spiritual excellence with sincere worship, prostration, and obedience.

Ayah 44

ذَٰلِكَ مِنْ أَنْبَاءِ الْغَيْبِ نُوحِيهِ إِلَيْكَ ۚ وَمَا كُنْتَ لَدَيْهِمْ إِذْ يُلْقُونَ أَقْلَامَهُمْ أَيُّهُمْ يَكْفُلُ مَرْيَمَ وَمَا كُنْتَ لَدَيْهِمْ إِذْ يَخْتَصِمُونَ

English Meaning

That is from the unseen news which We reveal to you. You were not with them when they cast their lots to decide who would care for Maryam, nor were you with them when they disputed among themselves.

Urdu Meaning

یہ غیب کی خبروں میں سے ہے جسے ہم آپ کی طرف وحی کرتے ہیں۔ آپ ان کے پاس موجود نہ تھے جب وہ قرعے ڈال رہے تھے کہ مریم کی کفالت کون کرے، اور نہ آپ ان کے پاس تھے جب وہ آپس میں جھگڑ رہے تھے۔

Explanation

The Quran presents these details as knowledge revealed to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. He was not physically present during these events, yet he was informed about them through revelation. This is part of the Quran's argument concerning divine revelation.

Ayah 45

إِذْ قَالَتِ الْمَلَائِكَةُ يَا مَرْيَمُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُبَشِّرُكِ بِكَلِمَةٍ مِّنْهُ اسْمُهُ الْمَسِيحُ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ وَجِيهًا فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ وَمِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ

English Meaning

When the angels said, “O Maryam, Allah gives you good news of a Word from Him. His name is the Messiah, Isa son of Maryam. He will be honored in this world and the Hereafter and will be among those brought near to Allah.”

Urdu Meaning

جب فرشتوں نے کہا: اے مریم! اللہ تمہیں اپنی طرف سے ایک کلمے کی خوشخبری دیتا ہے، جس کا نام مسیح عیسیٰ ابن مریم ہوگا۔ وہ دنیا اور آخرت میں باعزت ہوگا اور اللہ کے مقرب بندوں میں سے ہوگا۔

Explanation

This is the announcement of the birth of Isa (Jesus) عليه السلام. The Quran identifies him as the Messiah and son of Maryam and describes his honored status in both this world and the Hereafter.

Ayah 46

وَيُكَلِّمُ النَّاسَ فِي الْمَهْدِ وَكَهْلًا وَمِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ

English Meaning

He will speak to people in infancy and in maturity, and he will be among the righteous.

Urdu Meaning

اور وہ لوگوں سے گہوارے میں بھی اور پختہ عمر میں بھی کلام کرے گا، اور وہ صالحین میں سے ہوگا۔

Explanation

The verse mentions one of the extraordinary signs associated with Isa: speaking while still an infant. At the same time, it emphasizes that he is among the righteous servants of Allah.

Ayah 47

قَالَتْ رَبِّ أَنَّىٰ يَكُونُ لِي وَلَدٌ وَلَمْ يَمْسَسْنِي بَشَرٌ ۖ قَالَ كَذَٰلِكِ اللَّهُ يَخْلُقُ مَا يَشَاءُ ۚ إِذَا قَضَىٰ أَمْرًا فَإِنَّمَا يَقُولُ لَهُ كُن فَيَكُونُ

English Meaning

Maryam said, “My Lord, how can I have a child when no man has touched me?” He said, “That is how Allah creates whatever He wills. When He decrees a matter, He only says to it, ‘Be,’ and it comes to be.”

Urdu Meaning

مریم نے عرض کیا: اے میرے رب! میرے ہاں بچہ کیسے ہوگا جبکہ مجھے کسی انسان نے چھوا تک نہیں؟ فرمایا: اسی طرح اللہ جو چاہتا ہے پیدا کرتا ہے۔ جب وہ کسی کام کا فیصلہ کرتا ہے تو اسے صرف کہتا ہے: ہو جا، پس وہ ہوجاتا ہے۔

Explanation

Maryam's question concerns the extraordinary nature of the event, not doubt in Allah's power. Allah explains that His creative command is not limited by ordinary human processes. This establishes the miraculous nature of Isa's birth.

Ayah 48

وَيُعَلِّمُهُ الْكِتَابَ وَالْحِكْمَةَ وَالتَّوْرَاةَ وَالْإِنجِيلَ

English Meaning

Allah will teach him the Scripture, wisdom, the Torah, and the Gospel.

Urdu Meaning

اور اللہ اسے کتاب، حکمت، تورات اور انجیل کا علم عطا کرے گا۔

Explanation

Isa would be taught revelation and wisdom by Allah. The verse also establishes his connection with earlier revelation, particularly the Torah, and with the Gospel given to him.

Ayah 49

English Meaning

He will be a messenger to the Children of Israel, saying: “I have come to you with a sign from your Lord. I shape for you from clay something resembling a bird, then I breathe into it and it becomes a bird by Allah's permission. I heal the blind from birth and the leper, and I bring the dead to life by Allah's permission. I also tell you what you eat and what you store in your homes. Surely, in these are signs for you if you are believers.”

Explanation

The miracles of Isa were extraordinary signs, but the verse repeatedly connects them to Allah's permission. The miracles therefore do not make Isa divine; rather, they demonstrate Allah's power and support for His messenger.

Ayah 50

وَمُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيَّ مِنَ التَّوْرَاةِ وَلِأُحِلَّ لَكُم بَعْضَ الَّذِي حُرِّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ ۚ وَجِئْتُكُم بِآيَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ

English Meaning

I have come confirming the Torah that preceded me and to make lawful for you some of what had been forbidden to you. I have brought you a sign from your Lord, so be mindful of Allah and obey me.

Urdu Meaning

اور میں اپنے سے پہلے موجود تورات کی تصدیق کرنے والا ہوں، اور اس لیے آیا ہوں کہ تم پر حرام کی گئی بعض چیزیں حلال کردوں۔ میں تمہارے رب کی طرف سے نشانی لے کر آیا ہوں، پس اللہ سے ڈرو اور میری اطاعت کرو۔

Explanation

Isa's message was connected to the revelation before him. He confirmed the Torah while bringing specific guidance for the Children of Israel. His call, like that of the other prophets, included taqwa and obedience to Allah.

Ayah 51

إِنَّ اللَّهَ رَبِّي وَرَبُّكُمْ فَاعْبُدُوهُ ۗ هَٰذَا صِرَاطٌ مُّسْتَقِيمٌ

English Meaning

Surely, Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. This is the straight path.

Urdu Meaning

بے شک اللہ میرا بھی رب ہے اور تمہارا بھی رب، پس اسی کی عبادت کرو۔ یہی سیدھا راستہ ہے۔

Explanation

This verse gives a central Quranic statement about Isa: he calls people to worship Allah, who is his Lord and their Lord. The message is therefore one of pure monotheism and worship of Allah alone.

Ayah 52

فَلَمَّا أَحَسَّ عِيسَىٰ مِنْهُمُ الْكُفْرَ قَالَ مَنْ أَنصَارِي إِلَى اللَّهِ ۖ قَالَ الْحَوَارِيُّونَ نَحْنُ أَنصَارُ اللَّهِ آمَنَّا بِاللَّهِ وَاشْهَدْ بِأَنَّا مُسْلِمُونَ

English Meaning

When Isa sensed disbelief among them, he said, “Who will support me in the cause of Allah?” The disciples said, “We are the supporters of Allah. We believe in Allah, and bear witness that we submit to Him.”

Urdu Meaning

پھر جب عیسیٰ نے ان میں کفر محسوس کیا تو کہا: اللہ کی راہ میں میرا مددگار کون ہے؟ حواریوں نے کہا: ہم اللہ کے مددگار ہیں، ہم اللہ پر ایمان لائے، اور گواہ رہیں کہ ہم فرمانبردار ہیں۔

Explanation

The disciples responded positively to Isa's call. Their statement shows that true support for a prophet means supporting the cause of Allah and submitting to Him.

Ayah 53

رَبَّنَا آمَنَّا بِمَا أَنزَلْتَ وَاتَّبَعْنَا الرَّسُولَ فَاكْتُبْنَا مَعَ الشَّاهِدِينَ

English Meaning

Our Lord, we believe in what You have revealed and we follow the Messenger, so count us among those who bear witness to the truth.

Urdu Meaning

اے ہمارے رب! ہم اس پر ایمان لائے جو تو نے نازل فرمایا اور ہم نے رسول کی پیروی کی، پس ہمیں گواہی دینے والوں میں لکھ دے۔

Explanation

The disciples combine two important qualities: belief in revelation and following the messenger. Their supplication also shows their desire to remain among those who testify to the truth.

Ayah 54

وَمَكَرُوا وَمَكَرَ اللَّهُ ۖ وَاللَّهُ خَيْرُ الْمَاكِرِينَ

English Meaning

They plotted, and Allah responded to their plotting, and Allah is the best in carrying out His plan.

Urdu Meaning

اور انہوں نے تدبیر کی، اور اللہ نے بھی ان کی تدبیر کا جواب دیا، اور اللہ سب سے بہتر تدبیر کرنے والا ہے۔

Explanation

Those who opposed Isa attempted to scheme against him, but Allah's plan ultimately prevailed. The verse reminds believers that human plans cannot overcome Allah's decree.

Ayah 55

English Meaning

When Allah said, “O Isa, I will take you and raise you to Myself, purify you from those who disbelieved, and place those who follow you above those who disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection. Then to Me you will all return, and I will judge between you concerning what you differed about.”

Explanation

This verse describes Allah's protection and raising of Isa and promises an eventual judgment over the disagreements surrounding him. It is important to read this verse together with the Quran's other passages concerning Isa rather than isolating a single phrase.

Ayah 56

فَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا فَأُعَذِّبُهُمْ عَذَابًا شَدِيدًا فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ وَمَا لَهُم مِّن نَّاصِرِينَ

English Meaning

As for those who reject faith, I will punish them with severe punishment in this world and the Hereafter, and they will have no helpers.

Urdu Meaning

پس جو لوگ کفر کریں گے، میں انہیں دنیا اور آخرت میں سخت عذاب دوں گا، اور ان کے لیے کوئی مددگار نہ ہوگا۔

Explanation

The verse contrasts rejection with faith and righteousness. Ultimately, worldly power cannot protect a person from Allah's judgment.

Ayah 57

وَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ فَيُوَفِّيهِمْ أُجُورَهُمْ ۗ وَاللَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّ الظَّالِمِينَ

English Meaning

As for those who believe and do righteous deeds, Allah will give them their rewards in full. Allah does not love the wrongdoers.

Urdu Meaning

اور جو لوگ ایمان لائے اور نیک اعمال کیے، اللہ انہیں ان کا اجر پورا دے گا، اور اللہ ظالموں کو پسند نہیں کرتا۔

Explanation

The Quran presents a clear contrast: rejection brings accountability, while faith combined with righteous action receives its full reward.

Ayah 58

ذَٰلِكَ نَتْلُوهُ عَلَيْكَ مِنَ الْآيَاتِ وَالذِّكْرِ الْحَكِيمِ

English Meaning

These are the verses and the wise reminder that We recite to you.

Urdu Meaning

یہ وہ آیات اور حکمت والی نصیحت ہے جو ہم آپ کو سنا رہے ہیں۔

Explanation

Allah reminds the Prophet ﷺ that these accounts are part of the revealed Quran and wise reminder. The story of Isa is therefore not presented as ordinary history but as divine revelation containing guidance.

Ayah 59

إِنَّ مَثَلَ عِيسَىٰ عِندَ اللَّهِ كَمَثَلِ آدَمَ ۖ خَلَقَهُ مِن تُرَابٍ ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهُ كُن فَيَكُونُ

English Meaning

Indeed, the example of Isa before Allah is like that of Adam. He created him from dust, then said to him, “Be,” and he came to be.

Urdu Meaning

بے شک اللہ کے نزدیک عیسیٰ کی مثال آدم جیسی ہے۔ اللہ نے اسے مٹی سے پیدا کیا، پھر فرمایا: ہو جا، تو وہ ہوگیا۔

Explanation

This is a central theological point in the passage. The extraordinary birth of Isa does not make him divine. Allah created Adam without a father or mother, while Isa was created without a human father. Both are ultimately creations of Allah's command.

Ayah 60

الْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكَ فَلَا تَكُن مِّنَ الْمُمْتَرِينَ

English Meaning

The truth is from your Lord, so do not be among those who doubt.

Urdu Meaning

حق تمہارے رب کی طرف سے ہے، پس تم شک کرنے والوں میں سے نہ ہونا۔

Explanation

After presenting the account of Isa and clarifying his creation, Allah concludes this section by affirming that the truth comes from Him. The believer is called to remain firm upon revealed truth rather than being shaken by doubt.
