بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.
Ayah 101

وَلَمَّا جَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌۭ مِّنْ عِندِ ٱللَّهِ مُصَدِّقٌۭ لِّمَا مَعَهُمْ نَبَذَ فَرِيقٌۭ مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ كِتَٰبَ ٱللَّهِ وَرَآءَ ظُهُورِهِمْ كَأَنَّهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

English Meaning

When a messenger from Allah came to them, confirming what was already with them, a group of those who had been given the Scripture cast the Book of Allah behind their backs as though they knew nothing about it.

Urdu Meaning

اور جب ان کے پاس اللہ کی طرف سے ایک رسول آیا جو اس کتاب کی تصدیق کرنے والا تھا جو ان کے پاس موجود تھی، تو اہلِ کتاب میں سے ایک گروہ نے اللہ کی کتاب کو اپنی پیٹھ کے پیچھے پھینک دیا، گویا وہ اسے جانتے ہی نہ تھے۔

Explanation

This verse describes the rejection of truth despite having knowledge of revelation. The coming Messenger confirmed the truth that had already been given to them, yet some chose to ignore the guidance. The lesson is that possessing religious knowledge is not enough; a person must also sincerely accept and follow the truth.

Ayah 102

English Meaning

They followed what the devils spread during the kingdom of Solomon. Solomon did not disbelieve; rather, the devils disbelieved, teaching people magic and what was associated with the two angels, Harut and Marut, in Babylon. The two would warn anyone who approached them that they were a test and that they should not disbelieve. Yet people learned from them things used to create separation between a husband and wife. They could not harm anyone except by Allah's permission. They learned what harmed them and did not benefit them, even though they knew that whoever chose such practices would have no share in the Hereafter. What a terrible bargain they made for themselves.

Explanation

This verse strongly rejects the false accusation that Prophet Sulayman عليه السلام practiced disbelief or magic. It explicitly states that he did not disbelieve. The verse also warns about magic and harmful occult practices, emphasizing that they provide no true benefit and cannot operate independently of Allah's will.

Ayah 103

وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَٱتَّقَوْا۟ لَمَثُوبَةٌۭ مِّنْ عِندِ ٱللَّهِ خَيْرٌۭ ۖ لَّوْ كَانُوا۟ يَعْلَمُونَ

English Meaning

If only they had believed and developed consciousness of Allah, the reward from Allah would certainly have been far better for them, if only they understood.

Urdu Meaning

اور اگر وہ ایمان لاتے اور تقویٰ اختیار کرتے تو اللہ کی طرف سے ملنے والا اجر ان کے لیے کہیں بہتر ہوتا، کاش وہ جانتے۔

Explanation

Allah contrasts harmful pursuits with the far greater reward of faith and taqwa. True success does not come from secret or harmful practices but from belief, obedience, and consciousness of Allah.

Ayah 104

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَقُولُوا۟ رَٰعِنَا وَقُولُوا۟ ٱنظُرْنَا وَٱسْمَعُوا۟ ۗ وَلِلْكَٰفِرِينَ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌۭ

English Meaning

O believers, do not use the expression “Ra'ina”; instead, say “Unzurna” and listen. And for the disbelievers is a painful punishment.

Urdu Meaning

اے ایمان والو! “راعنا” نہ کہا کرو بلکہ “انظرنا” کہا کرو اور توجہ سے سنو۔ اور کافروں کے لیے دردناک عذاب ہے۔

Explanation

The believers were taught to use clear and respectful language when addressing the Messenger ﷺ. The verse teaches an important principle: even when a word has an acceptable meaning, believers should avoid expressions that can be deliberately misused or misunderstood.

Ayah 105

English Meaning

Those who disbelieve among the People of the Scripture and the polytheists do not wish that any good should be sent down to you from your Lord. But Allah chooses for His mercy whom He wills, and Allah is the Possessor of tremendous bounty.

Urdu Meaning

اہلِ کتاب میں سے کافر اور مشرک یہ پسند نہیں کرتے کہ تم پر تمہارے رب کی طرف سے کوئی بھلائی نازل ہو، لیکن اللہ اپنی رحمت کے لیے جسے چاہتا ہے منتخب کرتا ہے، اور اللہ بڑے فضل والا ہے۔

Explanation

Allah's mercy and favor are not controlled by people's jealousy or preferences. Guidance is a gift from Allah. Believers should therefore value Allah's favor rather than becoming discouraged by the opposition or resentment of others.

Ayah 106

مَا نَنسَخْ مِنْ ءَايَةٍ أَوْ نُنسِهَا نَأْتِ بِخَيْرٍۢ مِّنْهَآ أَوْ مِثْلِهَآ ۗ أَلَمْ تَعْلَمْ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍۢ قَدِيرٌ

English Meaning

Whenever We replace or cause a verse to be forgotten, We bring one better than it or similar to it. Do you not know that Allah has power over all things?

Urdu Meaning

ہم جس آیت کو منسوخ کرتے یا بھلا دیتے ہیں، اس سے بہتر یا اس جیسی آیت لے آتے ہیں۔ کیا تم نہیں جانتے کہ اللہ ہر چیز پر قادر ہے؟

Explanation

This verse establishes the principle of divine abrogation within revelation. Allah, the Lawgiver, has complete authority over His commands. Any change in a revealed ruling occurs according to His wisdom and knowledge, not because of weakness or uncertainty.

Ayah 107

أَلَمْ تَعْلَمْ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَهُۥ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۗ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مِن وَلِيٍّۢ وَلَا نَصِيرٍ

English Meaning

Do you not know that the dominion of the heavens and the earth belongs to Allah? You have no protector or helper besides Allah.

Urdu Meaning

کیا تم نہیں جانتے کہ آسمانوں اور زمین کی بادشاہی اللہ ہی کی ہے؟ اور اللہ کے سوا تمہارا نہ کوئی سرپرست ہے اور نہ مددگار۔

Explanation

Allah possesses complete authority over creation. This follows naturally from the previous verse: the One who owns the heavens and earth has full authority over revelation and legislation. Human beings ultimately depend upon Him for protection and help.

Ayah 108

أَمْ تُرِيدُونَ أَن تَسْـَٔلُوا۟ رَسُولَكُمْ كَمَا سُئِلَ مُوسَىٰ مِن قَبْلُ ۗ وَمَن يَتَبَدَّلِ ٱلْكُفْرَ بِٱلْإِيمَٰنِ فَقَدْ ضَلَّ سَوَآءَ ٱلسَّبِيلِ

English Meaning

Or do you intend to question your Messenger as Moses was questioned before? Whoever exchanges faith for disbelief has certainly strayed from the balanced path.

Urdu Meaning

کیا تم اپنے رسول سے اسی طرح سوال کرنا چاہتے ہو جیسے اس سے پہلے موسیٰ سے سوال کیے گئے تھے؟ اور جو ایمان کے بدلے کفر اختیار کرے وہ سیدھے راستے سے بھٹک گیا۔

Explanation

The verse warns against asking questions in a way that reflects stubbornness, challenge, or unwillingness to obey. Islam encourages sincere questions, but revelation should not be treated as something to be resisted through endless demands and objections.

Ayah 109

English Meaning

Many among the People of the Scripture wished to turn you back to disbelief after you had believed, out of envy even after the truth had become clear to them. So pardon and overlook until Allah brings His command. Surely Allah has power over all things.

Urdu Meaning

اہلِ کتاب میں سے بہت سے لوگ چاہتے تھے کہ تمہیں ایمان کے بعد دوبارہ کافر بنا دیں، اپنے دلوں کے حسد کی وجہ سے، حالانکہ ان پر حق واضح ہو چکا تھا۔ پس معاف کرو اور درگزر کرو یہاں تک کہ اللہ اپنا حکم لے آئے۔ بے شک اللہ ہر چیز پر قادر ہے۔

Explanation

The believers are taught patience and restraint in the face of hostility and jealousy. This does not mean approving falsehood; rather, it teaches believers not to respond to every provocation with anger or revenge. Allah's judgment and command remain decisive.

Ayah 110

وَأَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتُوا۟ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ ۚ وَمَا تُقَدِّمُوا۟ لِأَنفُسِكُم مِّنْ خَيْرٍۢ تَجِدُوهُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ

English Meaning

Establish the Prayer and give Zakah. Whatever good you send ahead for yourselves, you will find it with Allah. Allah sees everything you do.

Urdu Meaning

اور نماز قائم کرو اور زکوٰۃ ادا کرو، اور تم اپنے لیے جو بھی نیکی آگے بھیجو گے اسے اللہ کے پاس پاؤ گے۔ بے شک اللہ تمہارے اعمال کو خوب دیکھتا ہے۔

Explanation

This verse connects worship with lasting reward. Prayer strengthens the relationship with Allah, while Zakah reflects responsibility toward others. Every sincere good deed is preserved with Allah and will be found in the Hereafter.

Ayah 111

وَقَالُوا۟ لَن يَدْخُلَ ٱلْجَنَّةَ إِلَّا مَن كَانَ هُودًا أَوْ نَصَٰرَىٰ ۗ تِلْكَ أَمَانِيُّهُمْ ۗ قُلْ هَاتُوا۟ بُرْهَٰنَكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ

English Meaning

They said, “No one will enter Paradise unless they are a Jew or a Christian.” These are merely their wishes. Say, “Bring your proof if you are truthful.”

Urdu Meaning

اور انہوں نے کہا کہ جنت میں وہی داخل ہوگا جو یہودی یا نصرانی ہو۔ یہ ان کی خواہشیں ہیں۔ کہہ دو: اگر تم سچے ہو تو اپنی دلیل پیش کرو۔

Explanation

The Quran rejects salvation based merely on labels or group identity. Allah asks for evidence rather than unsupported claims. The verse teaches that religious truth must be based on revelation and sincere obedience, not wishful thinking.

Ayah 112

بَلَىٰ مَنْ أَسْلَمَ وَجْهَهُۥ لِلَّهِ وَهُوَ مُحْسِنٌۭ فَلَهُۥٓ أَجْرُهُۥ عِندَ رَبِّهِۦ وَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ

English Meaning

Rather, whoever submits himself to Allah and does good will have his reward with his Lord. They will have no fear, nor will they grieve.

Urdu Meaning

کیوں نہیں، جو شخص اللہ کے سامنے اپنا آپ جھکا دے اور نیکی کرنے والا ہو، اس کا اجر اس کے رب کے پاس ہے۔ نہ ان پر کوئی خوف ہوگا اور نہ وہ غمگین ہوں گے۔

Explanation

True submission to Allah is accompanied by righteous conduct. The verse presents a universal principle: sincere submission and good deeds lead to Allah's reward. The promise of freedom from fear and grief points toward the security of the Hereafter.

Ayah 113

English Meaning

The Jews said, “The Christians have no valid basis,” and the Christians said, “The Jews have no valid basis,” even though both recite Scripture. In the same way, those who have no knowledge made similar claims. Allah will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning their differences.

Explanation

The verse criticizes religious arguments that become detached from sincere pursuit of truth. Having Scripture should encourage humility and understanding, not arrogance and mutual condemnation. Ultimately, Allah will judge the disputes between people.

Ayah 114

English Meaning

Who could be more unjust than those who prevent Allah's name from being mentioned in His mosques and strive to destroy or ruin them? Such people should not enter them except with fear. For them is disgrace in this world and a tremendous punishment in the Hereafter.

Urdu Meaning

اور اس شخص سے بڑھ کر ظالم کون ہے جو اللہ کی مسجدوں میں اس کے نام کا ذکر کیے جانے سے روکے اور ان کی ویرانی کی کوشش کرے؟ ایسے لوگوں کو چاہیے کہ ان میں خوف کے ساتھ داخل ہوں۔ ان کے لیے دنیا میں رسوائی اور آخرت میں بڑا عذاب ہے۔

Explanation

Mosques are places dedicated to the worship and remembrance of Allah. Preventing people from worshipping Allah or deliberately working to destroy sacred places is described as a grave injustice. The verse emphasizes the sanctity of worship and the serious consequences of obstructing it.

Ayah 115

وَلِلَّهِ ٱلْمَشْرِقُ وَٱلْمَغْرِبُ ۚ فَأَيْنَمَا تُوَلُّوا۟ فَثَمَّ وَجْهُ ٱللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ وَٰسِعٌ عَلِيمٌۭ

English Meaning

To Allah belong the east and the west. Wherever you turn, there is the direction of Allah's command and presence. Allah is All-Encompassing, All-Knowing.

Urdu Meaning

اور مشرق و مغرب اللہ ہی کے ہیں، پس تم جدھر بھی رخ کرو وہاں اللہ کی توجہ اور قدرت ہے۔ بے شک اللہ وسعت والا، سب کچھ جاننے والا ہے۔

Explanation

This verse emphasizes Allah's complete ownership of every direction and place. It should not be misunderstood as saying that Allah is physically contained in a direction. Allah is not limited by creation. The verse teaches that worship and devotion ultimately belong to Him alone.

Ayah 116

وَقَالُوا۟ ٱتَّخَذَ ٱللَّهُ وَلَدًۭا ۗ سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ ۖ بَل لَّهُۥ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ كُلٌّۭ لَّهُۥ قَٰنِتُونَ

English Meaning

They say, “Allah has taken a child.” Glory be to Him! Rather, everything in the heavens and the earth belongs to Him, and all are obedient to Him.

Urdu Meaning

اور انہوں نے کہا کہ اللہ نے اولاد بنا لی ہے۔ پاک ہے وہ! بلکہ آسمانوں اور زمین میں جو کچھ ہے سب اسی کا ہے، اور سب اسی کے فرمانبردار ہیں۔

Explanation

The Quran firmly rejects attributing offspring to Allah. Allah is the Creator and Owner of everything, while everything created is dependent upon Him. This verse reinforces the Quranic concept of Allah's absolute uniqueness and transcendence.

Ayah 117

بَدِيعُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ وَإِذَا قَضَىٰٓ أَمْرًۭا فَإِنَّمَا يَقُولُ لَهُۥ كُن فَيَكُونُ

English Meaning

He is the Originator of the heavens and the earth. When He decrees a matter, He only says to it, “Be,” and it is.

Urdu Meaning

وہ آسمانوں اور زمین کا بے مثال پیدا کرنے والا ہے۔ اور جب وہ کسی کام کا فیصلہ کرتا ہے تو بس اسے کہتا ہے: “ہو جا”، پس وہ ہو جاتا ہے۔

Explanation

Allah's creative power is absolute. He does not require assistance, materials, or limitations like created beings. The phrase “Be, and it is” expresses the perfection and immediacy of Allah's command and creative authority.

Ayah 118

English Meaning

Those who lack knowledge say, “Why does Allah not speak to us directly, or why does a sign not come to us?” Those before them made similar demands. Their hearts resemble one another. We have already made the signs clear for people who have certainty.

Explanation

The problem was not a lack of signs but an attitude that demanded signs according to personal expectations. The Quran teaches that sincere certainty comes from recognizing and responding to the evidence Allah has already provided.

Ayah 119

إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَٰكَ بِٱلْحَقِّ بَشِيرًۭا وَنَذِيرًۭا ۖ وَلَا تُسْـَٔلُ عَنْ أَصْحَٰبِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ

English Meaning

Indeed, We have sent you with the truth as a bearer of good news and a warner. You will not be held responsible for the companions of the Hellfire.

Urdu Meaning

بے شک ہم نے آپ کو حق کے ساتھ خوشخبری دینے والا اور ڈرانے والا بنا کر بھیجا ہے، اور آپ سے جہنم والوں کے بارے میں بازپرس نہیں ہوگی۔

Explanation

The mission of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is described as delivering truth, giving glad tidings, and warning people. His responsibility was to convey the message faithfully; the final judgment of those who reject it belongs to Allah.

Ayah 120

English Meaning

The Jews and Christians will not be satisfied with you until you follow their way. Say, “Indeed, Allah's guidance is the true guidance.” If you were to follow their desires after the knowledge that has come to you, you would have no protector or helper against Allah.

Urdu Meaning

اور یہودی اور نصاریٰ آپ سے ہرگز راضی نہیں ہوں گے جب تک آپ ان کے طریقے کی پیروی نہ کریں۔ کہہ دیجیے: بے شک اللہ کی ہدایت ہی اصل ہدایت ہے۔ اور اگر علم آ جانے کے بعد بھی آپ ان کی خواہشات کی پیروی کریں تو اللہ کے مقابلے میں آپ کا نہ کوئی سرپرست ہوگا اور نہ مددگار۔

Explanation

The verse teaches the Prophet ﷺ and believers to remain firmly committed to Allah's guidance rather than changing religious truth simply to gain people's approval. The central principle is that guidance comes from Allah, not from social pressure or the changing preferences of people.
