بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.
Ayah 81

بَلَىٰ مَن كَسَبَ سَيِّئَةًۭ وَأَحَٰطَتْ بِهِۦ خَطِيٓـَٔتُهُۥ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلنَّارِ ۖ هُمْ فِيهَا خَٰلِدُونَ

English Meaning

Rather, whoever earns evil and becomes surrounded by his sin—such people are the companions of the Fire, remaining there eternally.

Urdu Meaning

ہاں، جو شخص برائی کمائے اور اس کا گناہ اسے گھیر لے، ایسے لوگ دوزخ والے ہیں، وہ اس میں ہمیشہ رہیں گے۔

Explanation

This verse rejects the false assumption mentioned in the previous verse that punishment would last only a few days. Allah explains that the real issue is a person's persistent evil and sin that ultimately encompasses him. The verse teaches that salvation cannot be based on claims or assumptions; accountability is connected with genuine faith and one's response to Allah's guidance.

Ayah 82

وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْجَنَّةِ ۖ هُمْ فِيهَا خَٰلِدُونَ

English Meaning

But those who believe and do righteous deeds are the companions of Paradise; they will remain there forever.

Urdu Meaning

اور جو لوگ ایمان لائے اور نیک اعمال کرتے رہے، وہ جنت والے ہیں، وہ اس میں ہمیشہ رہیں گے۔

Explanation

The Quran places true faith together with righteous action. Belief is not presented merely as a claim; it should influence how a person lives. This verse gives hope that sincere faith accompanied by righteous deeds leads to eternal success in Paradise.

Ayah 83

English Meaning

Remember when We took the covenant from the Children of Israel: worship none but Allah; show kindness to parents, relatives, orphans, and the needy; speak good words to people; establish Prayer and give Zakah. Yet most of you turned away, except a few.

Urdu Meaning

اور جب ہم نے بنی اسرائیل سے عہد لیا کہ اللہ کے سوا کسی کی عبادت نہ کرنا، والدین، رشتہ داروں، یتیموں اور محتاجوں کے ساتھ بھلائی کرنا، لوگوں سے اچھی بات کہنا، نماز قائم کرنا اور زکوٰۃ دینا۔ پھر تم میں سے تھوڑے لوگوں کے سوا سب پھر گئے۔

Explanation

This covenant combines worship of Allah with social responsibility. Islam connects devotion to Allah with kindness toward parents, relatives, orphans, and the poor, as well as good speech, Prayer, and Zakah. The verse shows that religious knowledge becomes meaningful when it is followed by action.

Ayah 84

وَإِذْ أَخَذْنَا مِيثَٰقَكُمْ لَا تَسْفِكُونَ دِمَآءَكُمْ وَلَا تُخْرِجُونَ أَنفُسَكُم مِّن دِيَٰرِكُمْ ثُمَّ أَقْرَرْتُمْ وَأَنتُمْ تَشْهَدُونَ

English Meaning

And remember when We took your covenant that you would not shed one another's blood or drive one another from your homes. You accepted this covenant while bearing witness.

Urdu Meaning

اور جب ہم نے تم سے عہد لیا کہ ایک دوسرے کا خون نہ بہانا اور ایک دوسرے کو اپنے گھروں سے نہ نکالنا، پھر تم نے اس کا اقرار کیا اور تم خود اس کے گواہ تھے۔

Explanation

Allah reminds them of a covenant protecting human life and the security of homes. The command demonstrates the seriousness of murder, violence, and forced displacement. A community cannot claim obedience to Allah while violating fundamental rights that Allah has protected.

Ayah 85

English Meaning

Yet you are the same people who kill one another and drive some of your own people from their homes, supporting one another in sin and aggression. When those people become captives, you ransom them, even though expelling them was forbidden to you. Do you then believe in part of the Scripture and reject part of it? Such conduct brings disgrace in this world, and on the Day of Resurrection they will face severe punishment. Allah is never unaware of what you do.

Explanation

This verse condemns selective obedience. They followed one command—ransoming captives—while violating another command that prohibited expelling and harming their people. The principle is powerful: a believer should not choose only the teachings that suit personal interests while ignoring difficult obligations.

Ayah 86

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱشْتَرَوُا۟ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا بِٱلْءَاخِرَةِ ۖ فَلَا يُخَفَّفُ عَنْهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ وَلَا هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ

English Meaning

Those are the people who chose the life of this world in exchange for the Hereafter. Their punishment will not be lightened, nor will they receive help.

Urdu Meaning

یہ وہ لوگ ہیں جنہوں نے آخرت کے بدلے دنیا کی زندگی خرید لی۔ پس نہ ان کا عذاب ہلکا کیا جائے گا اور نہ انہیں کوئی مدد ملے گی۔

Explanation

The verse describes the danger of preferring temporary worldly interests over eternal accountability. Worldly benefits may appear attractive, but they cannot compensate for losing the Hereafter. True success requires keeping the Hereafter as the greater priority.

Ayah 87

English Meaning

We gave Moses the Scripture and sent messengers after him. We gave Jesus son of Mary clear signs and strengthened him with the Holy Spirit. Yet whenever a messenger brought something you did not desire, you became arrogant: some messengers you rejected and others you killed.

Explanation

Allah reminds them that revelation came through a succession of prophets. The problem was not a lack of divine guidance but rejection when revelation conflicted with personal desires. The verse warns against allowing ego to become stronger than obedience to truth.

Ayah 88

وَقَالُوا۟ قُلُوبُنَا غُلْفٌۭ ۚ بَل لَّعَنَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِكُفْرِهِمْ فَقَلِيلًۭا مَّا يُؤْمِنُونَ

English Meaning

They said, “Our hearts are closed.” Rather, Allah rejected them because of their disbelief, so little is the faith they accept.

Urdu Meaning

اور انہوں نے کہا کہ ہمارے دل پردوں میں ہیں۔ بلکہ ان کے کفر کی وجہ سے اللہ نے ان پر لعنت کی، پس بہت ہی کم ہے جو وہ ایمان لاتے ہیں۔

Explanation

They presented their spiritual condition as though they were naturally unable to understand. The Quran instead points to their rejection and disbelief. The lesson is that a person should not blame a “closed heart” while deliberately refusing truth.

Ayah 89

English Meaning

When a Book from Allah came to them confirming what they already possessed—and although they had previously sought victory through the coming truth—when what they recognized came to them, they rejected it. So Allah's rejection is upon those who disbelieve.

Urdu Meaning

اور جب ان کے پاس اللہ کی طرف سے وہ کتاب آئی جو ان کے پاس موجود کتاب کی تصدیق کرتی تھی، حالانکہ اس سے پہلے وہ کافروں کے مقابلے میں اسی کے ذریعے فتح کی دعا کرتے تھے، پھر جب وہ چیز آگئی جسے وہ پہچانتے تھے تو انہوں نے اس کا انکار کر دیا۔ پس کافروں پر اللہ کی لعنت ہے۔

Explanation

The verse describes the tragedy of recognizing truth but rejecting it because of pride, prejudice, or personal interests. Knowledge alone does not benefit a person unless it leads to sincere acceptance and obedience.

Ayah 90

English Meaning

How terrible was the bargain they made for themselves: they rejected what Allah revealed out of resentment that Allah would grant His favor to whomever He willed among His servants. Thus they incurred wrath upon wrath, and for the disbelievers is a humiliating punishment.

Urdu Meaning

کتنی بری چیز کے بدلے انہوں نے اپنی جانوں کو بیچ ڈالا کہ اللہ کی نازل کردہ وحی کا انکار کیا، اس حسد کی وجہ سے کہ اللہ اپنے بندوں میں سے جس پر چاہے اپنا فضل نازل کرے۔ پس وہ غضب پر غضب کے مستحق ہوئے، اور کافروں کے لیے ذلت والا عذاب ہے۔

Explanation

The verse exposes how jealousy and resentment can cause someone to reject truth. Divine favor is Allah's choice; human beings do not control whom Allah chooses for revelation or guidance. Pride and envy can therefore become serious barriers to faith.

Ayah 91

English Meaning

When they are told, “Believe in what Allah has revealed,” they say, “We believe only in what was revealed to us,” while rejecting what came afterward, even though it is the truth confirming what they already have. Say, “Then why did you kill Allah's prophets before, if you were believers?”

Explanation

The Quran challenges selective belief. Genuine faith does not mean accepting revelation only when it belongs to one's preferred community or period. The verse also exposes the contradiction between claiming belief and rejecting or harming Allah's messengers.

Ayah 92

وَلَقَدْ جَآءَكُم مُّوسَىٰ بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ ثُمَّ ٱتَّخَذْتُمُ ٱلْعِجْلَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ وَأَنتُمْ ظَٰلِمُونَ

English Meaning

Moses certainly came to you with clear signs, yet after he departed you took the calf as an object of worship, committing wrongdoing.

Urdu Meaning

اور یقیناً موسیٰ تمہارے پاس واضح نشانیاں لے کر آئے، پھر ان کے بعد تم نے بچھڑے کو معبود بنا لیا، حالانکہ تم ظالم تھے۔

Explanation

Despite witnessing clear signs through Moses, some of the Children of Israel turned to calf worship. The verse demonstrates that witnessing signs alone does not guarantee faith; the heart must also submit to Allah.

Ayah 93

English Meaning

Remember when We took your covenant and raised the Mount above you: “Hold firmly to what We have given you and listen.” They said, “We hear and disobey,” and their hearts became attached to the calf because of their disbelief. Say, “How evil is what your claimed faith commands you to do, if you are truly believers.”

Explanation

The verse highlights the difference between hearing revelation and obeying it. Their words—“we hear and disobey”—represent deliberate rebellion. True faith should produce humility, obedience, and a willingness to follow divine guidance.

Ayah 94

قُلْ إِن كَانَتْ لَكُمُ ٱلدَّارُ ٱلْءَاخِرَةُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ خَالِصَةًۭ مِّن دُونِ ٱلنَّاسِ فَتَمَنَّوُا۟ ٱلْمَوْتَ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ

English Meaning

Say: If the Home of the Hereafter with Allah is exclusively yours, apart from other people, then wish for death if you are truthful.

Urdu Meaning

کہہ دو: اگر اللہ کے نزدیک آخرت کا گھر صرف تمہارے ہی لیے ہے اور دوسرے لوگوں کے لیے نہیں، تو اگر تم سچے ہو تو موت کی تمنا کرو۔

Explanation

The challenge exposes the difference between an unsupported claim and genuine certainty. If someone truly believes that they have guaranteed exclusive success in the Hereafter, their attitude toward death should reflect complete confidence in meeting Allah. The next verse explains why they would not make such a wish.

Ayah 95

وَلَن يَتَمَنَّوْهُ أَبَدًۢا بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌۢ بِٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ

English Meaning

But they will never wish for it because of what their own hands have sent ahead. Allah knows the wrongdoers well.

Urdu Meaning

اور وہ اپنے ان اعمال کی وجہ سے کبھی بھی موت کی تمنا نہیں کریں گے جو ان کے ہاتھ آگے بھیج چکے ہیں۔ اور اللہ ظالموں کو خوب جانتا ہے۔

Explanation

A person's deeds can create fear of accountability. The verse reminds us that Allah knows what people have done, whether their actions are public or hidden. It also teaches that claims of righteousness cannot erase the reality of one's deeds.

Ayah 96

English Meaning

You will find them among the people most eager for life—even more than those who associate partners with Allah. One of them would wish to live for a thousand years, but even a long life would not save him from punishment. Allah sees all that they do.

Urdu Meaning

اور تم انہیں زندگی کا سب سے زیادہ حریص پاؤ گے، مشرکوں سے بھی زیادہ۔ ان میں سے ہر شخص چاہتا ہے کہ اسے ہزار سال عمر دی جائے، لیکن اتنی عمر بھی اسے عذاب سے نہیں بچا سکتی۔ اور اللہ ان کے اعمال کو دیکھ رہا ہے۔

Explanation

Long life is not the same as successful life. A person may desire hundreds of years, but no amount of time can remove the consequences of wrongdoing. The important question is not merely how long one lives, but how one uses the life Allah has given.

Ayah 97

قُلْ مَن كَانَ عَدُوًّۭا لِّجِبْرِيلَ فَإِنَّهُۥ نَزَّلَهُۥ عَلَىٰ قَلْبِكَ بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّهِ مُصَدِّقًۭا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَهُدًۭى وَبُشْرَىٰ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

English Meaning

Say: Whoever is an enemy to Gabriel should know that he brought the Quran down to your heart by Allah's permission, confirming the revelations before it, and bringing guidance and good news to the believers.

Urdu Meaning

کہہ دو: جو شخص جبرائیل کا دشمن ہے، تو وہ جان لے کہ اسی نے اللہ کے حکم سے یہ قرآن تمہارے دل پر نازل کیا ہے، جو پہلے سے موجود وحی کی تصدیق کرتا ہے اور مومنوں کے لیے ہدایت اور خوشخبری ہے۔

Explanation

The verse establishes that revelation is sent by Allah through His chosen angel. Gabriel's role in delivering the Quran does not make him independent of Allah; he acts by Allah's permission. The Quran is also described as confirming the truth that preceded it and providing guidance and glad tidings for believers.

Ayah 98

مَن كَانَ عَدُوًّۭا لِّلَّهِ وَمَلَٰٓئِكَتِهِۦ وَرُسُلِهِۦ وَجِبْرِيلَ وَمِيكَىٰلَ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَدُوٌّۭ لِّلْكَٰفِرِينَ

English Meaning

Whoever is an enemy to Allah, His angels, His messengers, Gabriel, or Michael should know that Allah is an enemy to the disbelievers.

Urdu Meaning

جو شخص اللہ، اس کے فرشتوں، اس کے رسولوں، جبرائیل اور میکائیل کا دشمن ہو تو بے شک اللہ کافروں کا دشمن ہے۔

Explanation

Faith requires respect for Allah's messengers and angels and acceptance of the divine system through which revelation reaches humanity. The verse makes clear that hostility toward Allah's appointed messengers and angels is ultimately rejection of Allah's authority.

Ayah 99

وَلَقَدْ أَنزَلْنَآ إِلَيْكَ ءَايَٰتٍۭ بَيِّنَٰتٍۢ ۖ وَمَا يَكْفُرُ بِهَآ إِلَّا ٱلْفَٰسِقُونَ

English Meaning

We have certainly revealed to you clear verses, and no one rejects them except those who persist in disobedience.

Urdu Meaning

اور یقیناً ہم نے تمہاری طرف واضح آیات نازل کی ہیں، اور ان کا انکار وہی کرتے ہیں جو نافرمان ہیں۔

Explanation

The Quran describes its signs and verses as clear proofs. Rejection after recognizing clear guidance is presented as a form of deliberate disobedience. The verse encourages a person to approach revelation sincerely rather than allowing arrogance or prejudice to prevent acceptance.

Ayah 100

أَوَكُلَّمَا عَٰهَدُوا۟ عَهْدًۭا نَّبَذَهُۥ فَرِيقٌۭ مِّنْهُم ۚ بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ

English Meaning

Is it not the case that whenever they made a covenant, a group among them cast it aside? Rather, most of them did not truly believe.

Urdu Meaning

کیا جب بھی انہوں نے کوئی عہد کیا تو ان میں سے ایک گروہ نے اسے توڑ کر پھینک نہیں دیا؟ بلکہ ان میں سے اکثر ایمان نہیں رکھتے۔

Explanation

The verse returns to the theme of broken covenants. Repeatedly abandoning agreements demonstrates that religious claims must be supported by honesty and commitment. Allah values faithfulness to promises, while repeatedly breaking them reveals a deeper problem in one's relationship with divine guidance.
