بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.
Ayah 161

وَمَا كَانَ لِنَبِيٍّ أَن يَغُلَّ ۚ وَمَن يَغْلُلْ يَأْتِ بِمَا غَلَّ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ۚ ثُمَّ تُوَفَّىٰ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ مَّا كَسَبَتْ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ

English Meaning

It is not fitting for any prophet to act dishonestly regarding anything entrusted to him. Whoever betrays will come on the Day of Resurrection carrying what he took unlawfully. Then every soul will be fully repaid for what it earned, and no one will be wronged.

Urdu Meaning

اور کسی نبی کے لیے یہ ممکن نہیں کہ وہ خیانت کرے۔ اور جو شخص خیانت کرے گا وہ قیامت کے دن اپنی خیانت کی ہوئی چیز لے کر آئے گا۔ پھر ہر جان کو اس کے اعمال کا پورا بدلہ دیا جائے گا اور ان پر ظلم نہیں کیا جائے گا۔

Explanation

This verse establishes the seriousness of trust and honesty. Prophets are completely trustworthy, and anyone who unlawfully takes something entrusted to them will be held accountable before Allah. The verse also emphasizes perfect justice on the Day of Resurrection: every person will receive the full consequence of what they have earned.

Ayah 162

أَفَمَنِ اتَّبَعَ رِضْوَانَ اللَّهِ كَمَن بَاءَ بِسَخَطٍ مِّنَ اللَّهِ وَمَأْوَاهُ جَهَنَّمُ ۖ وَبِئْسَ الْمَصِيرُ

English Meaning

Is the one who follows the pleasure of Allah like the one who earns His displeasure and whose final refuge is Hell? What a terrible destination.

Urdu Meaning

کیا وہ شخص جو اللہ کی رضا کی پیروی کرتا ہے اس شخص جیسا ہو سکتا ہے جو اللہ کے غضب کا مستحق بن جائے اور جس کا ٹھکانا جہنم ہو؟ اور وہ بہت برا ٹھکانا ہے۔

Explanation

Allah makes clear that obedience and disobedience cannot have the same outcome. The believer seeks Allah's pleasure through faith and righteous action, while deliberate rebellion leads toward His displeasure. The verse encourages believers to measure success by Allah's approval rather than temporary worldly benefits.

Ayah 163

هُمْ دَرَجَاتٌ عِندَ اللَّهِ ۗ وَاللَّهُ بَصِيرٌ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ

English Meaning

They have different ranks in the sight of Allah, and Allah sees all that they do.

Urdu Meaning

ن کے اللہ کے ہاں مختلف درجات ہیں، اور اللہ ان کے اعمال کو خوب دیکھنے والا ہے۔

Explanation

People are not equal in their faith, obedience, sincerity, and deeds. Allah knows the reality of every person's actions and intentions, and their ranks before Him correspond to what they truly do.

Ayah 164

English Meaning

Allah has certainly blessed the believers by sending among them a Messenger from themselves who recites His verses to them, purifies them, and teaches them the Book and wisdom, although before that they were clearly astray.

Urdu Meaning

یقیناً اللہ نے اہلِ ایمان پر بڑا احسان فرمایا کہ ان ہی میں سے ایک رسول ان کے درمیان بھیجا جو انہیں اللہ کی آیات پڑھ کر سناتا ہے، انہیں پاکیزہ کرتا ہے اور انہیں کتاب اور حکمت کی تعلیم دیتا ہے، جبکہ اس سے پہلے وہ کھلی گمراہی میں تھے۔

Explanation

The sending of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is described as a tremendous blessing. His mission included reciting revelation, purifying people's hearts and conduct, and teaching the Book and wisdom. This shows that true guidance transforms both knowledge and character.

Ayah 165

أَوَلَمَّا أَصَابَتْكُم مُّصِيبَةٌ قَدْ أَصَبْتُم مِّثْلَيْهَا قُلْتُمْ أَنَّىٰ هَٰذَا ۖ قُلْ هُوَ مِنْ عِندِ أَنفُسِكُمْ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

English Meaning

When a hardship struck you, although you had previously inflicted twice as much upon the enemy, you asked, “How did this happen?” Say: it came because of your own actions. Allah has power over all things.

Urdu Meaning

اور جب تمہیں ایک مصیبت پہنچی، حالانکہ تم اس سے دوگنی مصیبت دشمن کو پہنچا چکے تھے، تو تم نے کہا کہ یہ کہاں سے آگئی؟ کہہ دو: یہ تمہاری اپنی طرف سے ہے۔ بے شک اللہ ہر چیز پر قادر ہے۔

Explanation

This verse addresses the believers after the Battle of Uhud. It teaches them to examine their own mistakes instead of responding to hardship only with confusion or complaint. Trials can expose weaknesses in obedience, discipline, and decision-making, while reminding believers that Allah remains fully in control.

Ayah 166

وَمَا أَصَابَكُمْ يَوْمَ الْتَقَى الْجَمْعَانِ فَبِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ وَلِيَعْلَمَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

English Meaning

What happened to you on the day the two armies met occurred by Allah's permission, so that the true believers might become evident.

Urdu Meaning

اور جس دن دونوں لشکر آمنے سامنے ہوئے اس دن تمہیں جو مصیبت پہنچی وہ اللہ کے حکم سے تھی، تاکہ اللہ اہلِ ایمان کو نمایاں کر دے۔

Explanation

The events of Uhud occurred within Allah's decree and served as a test through which sincere believers became distinguished. Difficult circumstances can reveal the reality of faith, patience, obedience, and commitment.

Ayah 167

English Meaning

And so that those who were hypocrites would become evident. They were told, “Come, fight in the way of Allah or at least defend.” They replied, “If we had known there would be fighting, we would have followed you.” That day they were closer to disbelief than faith, saying with their mouths what was not in their hearts. Allah knows best what they conceal.

Explanation

The verse exposes the difference between outward claims and inward faith. Hypocrisy becomes visible when a person abandons commitment as soon as sacrifice or difficulty appears. Allah knows what people conceal, even when their words attempt to present a different image.

Ayah 168

الَّذِينَ قَالُوا لِإِخْوَانِهِمْ وَقَعَدُوا لَوْ أَطَاعُونَا مَا قُتِلُوا ۗ قُلْ فَادْرَءُوا عَنْ أَنفُسِكُمُ الْمَوْتَ إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ

English Meaning

Those who stayed behind said about their brothers, “If they had obeyed us, they would not have been killed.” Say, “Then prevent death from yourselves, if you are truthful.”

Urdu Meaning

وہ لوگ جو خود بیٹھے رہے اپنے بھائیوں کے بارے میں کہتے تھے کہ اگر وہ ہماری بات مان لیتے تو قتل نہ ہوتے۔ کہہ دو: اگر تم سچے ہو تو اپنے آپ سے موت کو ٹال دو۔

Explanation

The verse rejects the false idea that simply avoiding a difficult situation gives a person control over death. Human beings should take responsible precautions, but life and death ultimately remain within Allah's decree. The statement also exposes the harmful attitude of blaming believers after tragedy.

Ayah 169

وَلَا تَحْسَبَنَّ الَّذِينَ قُتِلُوا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ أَمْوَاتًا ۚ بَلْ أَحْيَاءٌ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ يُرْزَقُونَ

English Meaning

Do not think of those who were killed in the way of Allah as dead. Rather, they are alive with their Lord and are provided for.

Urdu Meaning

اور جو لوگ اللہ کی راہ میں قتل کیے گئے انہیں مردہ نہ سمجھو، بلکہ وہ اپنے رب کے پاس زندہ ہیں اور انہیں رزق دیا جاتا ہے۔

Explanation

This verse teaches that martyrdom is not the end of existence. Those who are killed in Allah's cause have a special life with their Lord and receive provision from Him. The verse gives comfort to believers and honors those who sincerely sacrificed themselves for Allah.

Ayah 170

فَرِحِينَ بِمَا آتَاهُمُ اللَّهُ مِن فَضْلِهِ وَيَسْتَبْشِرُونَ بِالَّذِينَ لَمْ يَلْحَقُوا بِهِم مِّنْ خَلْفِهِمْ أَلَّا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ

English Meaning

They rejoice in what Allah has granted them from His bounty and are glad for those who have not yet joined them, knowing that they will have no fear and will not grieve.

Urdu Meaning

وہ اللہ کے اپنے فضل سے عطا کیے ہوئے انعام پر خوش ہیں اور ان لوگوں کے بارے میں بھی خوش خبری پاتے ہیں جو ابھی ان کے پیچھے ان سے نہیں ملے کہ ان پر نہ کوئی خوف ہوگا اور نہ وہ غمگین ہوں گے۔

Explanation

The reward of those who gave their lives for Allah is described with joy and reassurance. They are not merely safe themselves; they also look forward to the believers who will follow them in faith and receive Allah's reward.

Ayah 171

يَسْتَبْشِرُونَ بِنِعْمَةٍ مِّنَ اللَّهِ وَفَضْلٍ وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُضِيعُ أَجْرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

English Meaning

They rejoice in Allah's blessing and bounty, and in the knowledge that Allah never allows the reward of believers to be lost.

Urdu Meaning

وہ اللہ کی نعمت اور فضل پر خوش ہوتے ہیں اور اس بات پر بھی کہ اللہ اہلِ ایمان کے اجر کو ضائع نہیں کرتا۔

Explanation

Allah's promise gives believers confidence that sincere faith and sacrifice are never wasted. Even when good deeds appear unnoticed in this world, Allah preserves their reward and will bring it to completion.

Ayah 172

الَّذِينَ اسْتَجَابُوا لِلَّهِ وَالرَّسُولِ مِن بَعْدِ مَا أَصَابَهُمُ الْقَرْحُ ۚ لِلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا مِنْهُمْ وَاتَّقَوْا أَجْرٌ عَظِيمٌ

English Meaning

Those who responded to Allah and the Messenger even after being wounded will have a tremendous reward—especially those among them who did good and remained conscious of Allah.

Urdu Meaning

وہ لوگ جنہوں نے زخم پہنچنے کے بعد بھی اللہ اور رسول کی دعوت پر لبیک کہا، ان میں سے جنہوں نے نیکی کی اور تقویٰ اختیار کیا ان کے لیے بہت بڑا اجر ہے۔

Explanation

True obedience becomes especially meaningful when it continues despite hardship. The believers mentioned here did not allow physical injury and difficulty to stop them from responding to Allah and His Messenger. Their perseverance earned a great reward.

Ayah 173

الَّذِينَ قَالَ لَهُمُ النَّاسُ إِنَّ النَّاسَ قَدْ جَمَعُوا لَكُمْ فَاخْشَوْهُمْ فَزَادَهُمْ إِيمَانًا وَقَالُوا حَسْبُنَا اللَّهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيلُ

English Meaning

Those to whom people said, “The people have gathered against you, so fear them,” only increased in faith and said, “Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best Disposer of affairs.”

Urdu Meaning

وہ لوگ جن سے لوگوں نے کہا کہ تمہارے مقابلے میں لوگ جمع ہو گئے ہیں، ان سے ڈرو، تو اس بات نے ان کے ایمان کو اور بڑھا دیا اور انہوں نے کہا: ہمارے لیے اللہ کافی ہے اور وہ بہترین کارساز ہے۔

Explanation

Fearful news did not destroy their faith; it strengthened it. Their statement, “Allah is sufficient for us,” expresses deep tawakkul. Reliance upon Allah does not mean abandoning effort; rather, it means that after taking the proper means, the heart depends upon Allah rather than being controlled by fear.

Ayah 174

فَانقَلَبُوا بِنِعْمَةٍ مِّنَ اللَّهِ وَفَضْلٍ لَّمْ يَمْسَسْهُمْ سُوءٌ وَاتَّبَعُوا رِضْوَانَ اللَّهِ ۗ وَاللَّهُ ذُو فَضْلٍ عَظِيمٍ

English Meaning

So they returned with blessing and bounty from Allah, untouched by harm, while seeking His pleasure. Allah is the possessor of immense bounty.

Urdu Meaning

پس وہ اللہ کی نعمت اور فضل کے ساتھ واپس لوٹے، انہیں کوئی نقصان نہ پہنچا، اور انہوں نے اللہ کی رضا کی پیروی کی۔ اور اللہ بڑے فضل والا ہے۔

Explanation

Their courage, obedience, and reliance upon Allah resulted in honor and protection. The ultimate goal was not worldly victory alone but seeking Allah's pleasure. The verse reminds believers that Allah's bounty is greater than anything they can obtain through worldly means.

Ayah 175

إِنَّمَا ذَٰلِكُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ يُخَوِّفُ أَوْلِيَاءَهُ فَلَا تَخَافُوهُمْ وَخَافُونِ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

English Meaning

It is only Satan who frightens you through his allies. So do not fear them; fear Me, if you are believers.

Urdu Meaning

یہ شیطان ہی ہے جو اپنے دوستوں سے تمہیں ڈراتا ہے، لہٰذا ان سے نہ ڈرو بلکہ مجھ سے ڈرو اگر تم ایمان والے ہو۔

Explanation

Fear can become a tool through which Satan weakens faith and courage. The believer should not allow fear of people to become greater than fear of Allah. Healthy fear of Allah produces obedience, while excessive fear of creation can lead a person away from truth.

Ayah 176

وَلَا يَحْزُنكَ الَّذِينَ يُسَارِعُونَ فِي الْكُفْرِ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ لَن يَضُرُّوا اللَّهَ شَيْئًا ۗ يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ أَلَّا يَجْعَلَ لَهُمْ حَظًّا فِي الْآخِرَةِ ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ

English Meaning

Do not let those who hasten toward disbelief grieve you. They can never harm Allah in any way. Allah intends that they have no share in the Hereafter, and for them is a tremendous punishment.

Urdu Meaning

اور جو لوگ کفر میں جلدی کرتے ہیں وہ آپ کو غمگین نہ کریں۔ بے شک وہ اللہ کو ہرگز کوئی نقصان نہیں پہنچا سکتے۔ اللہ چاہتا ہے کہ آخرت میں ان کا کوئی حصہ نہ ہو، اور ان کے لیے بڑا عذاب ہے۔

Explanation

The Prophet ﷺ is reassured that rejection of the truth does not diminish Allah's authority. Those who reject faith ultimately harm themselves. The verse also teaches believers not to become overwhelmed by the apparent strength or number of those who oppose the truth.

Ayah 177

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ اشْتَرَوُا الْكُفْرَ بِالْإِيمَانِ لَن يَضُرُّوا اللَّهَ شَيْئًا ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

English Meaning

Those who choose disbelief in exchange for faith can never harm Allah in any way, and for them is a painful punishment.

Urdu Meaning

بے شک جن لوگوں نے ایمان کے بدلے کفر خرید لیا وہ اللہ کو ہرگز کوئی نقصان نہیں پہنچا سکتے، اور ان کے لیے دردناک عذاب ہے۔

Explanation

The verse describes disbelief as a disastrous exchange: a person gives up faith for something that cannot provide lasting benefit. Allah does not become weaker because someone rejects Him; the loss belongs entirely to the person who abandons faith.

Ayah 178

وَلَا يَحْسَبَنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا أَنَّمَا نُمْلِي لَهُمْ خَيْرٌ لِّأَنفُسِهِمْ ۚ إِنَّمَا نُمْلِي لَهُمْ لِيَزْدَادُوا إِثْمًا ۚ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مُّهِينٌ

English Meaning

Those who disbelieve should not think that the time We give them is better for them. We only allow them time so that they may increase in sin, and for them is a humiliating punishment.

Urdu Meaning

اور کافر یہ نہ سمجھیں کہ ہم انہیں جو مہلت دے رہے ہیں وہ ان کے لیے بہتر ہے۔ ہم تو انہیں اس لیے مہلت دیتے ہیں کہ وہ گناہ میں اور بڑھ جائیں، اور ان کے لیے رسوا کن عذاب ہے۔

Explanation

Worldly success or extended time is not necessarily a sign of Allah's approval. A person may receive opportunities, wealth, or time while moving further away from righteousness. Therefore, believers should judge success through faith and obedience rather than temporary worldly circumstances.

Ayah 179

English Meaning

Allah would not leave the believers in their present condition until He distinguishes the impure from the pure. Nor would Allah disclose the unseen to everyone, but He chooses from His messengers whom He wills. So believe in Allah and His messengers. If you believe and remain mindful of Allah, you will have a great reward.

Explanation

Trials and difficult circumstances reveal the reality of people's faith. Allah distinguishes sincere believers from those whose claims are only outward. The unseen belongs to Allah, and He reveals from it only what He chooses for His messengers. The believer's responsibility is therefore faith, obedience, and taqwa.

Ayah 180

English Meaning

Those who miserly withhold what Allah has given them from His bounty should not think it is better for them. Rather, it is worse for them. What they withheld will become a burden around their necks on the Day of Resurrection. To Allah belongs the inheritance of the heavens and the earth, and Allah is fully aware of what you do.

Explanation

This verse warns against treating wealth as something to be possessed without responsibility. Allah's blessings are a trust, and withholding what should be given can become a source of punishment rather than security. Everything ultimately belongs to Allah, while human beings are temporary trustees of what they possess.
